Discovering Cartier’s Latest: Highlights From Watches And Wonders
Once again Watches And Wonders was the stage chosen by Cartier to present the main news and there were many, among them we highlight the Cartier Privé Collection which has both exclusivity and refinement and the Cartier Santos which brought some surprises.
Cartier Privé Collection
And starting with the Cartier Privé Collection, there are 5 new highlights, the Tortue time-only which appears with three new references presented in a case with dimensions of 32.90mm by 41.40mm and a thickness of just 7.20mm, on the dial two hands in the Breguet style, Roman numerals and a railway minute track.
An 18k yellow gold version with a grained gold dial and black printed accents, which comes with a sapphire-cabochon crown and a blue alligator leather strap, a platinum version with an opaline dial and rhodium-plated applied accents featuring a ruby on the crown matching the tone of the alligator leather strap and finally another version in platinum with a diamond-set bezel that we will also find on the crown.
Inside operates the manual movement based on the Piaget 430 MC Caliber just 2.10mm thick, which runs 21,600 Vph and offers up to 36 hours of power reserve.
The other two new watches from the Cartier Privé Collection are included in the Tortue Monopoussoir Chronograph, which comes housed in a case measuring 34.80mm by 43.70mm with a height of 10.20mm, one in 18k yellow gold with a grained gold dial and the other in a platinum case and an opaline dial, which like the Tortue time-only versions, the first comes with Roman numerals printed in black, a blue sapphire on the crown to match the tone of the leather strap. In contrast, the second feature applied rhodium-plated indexes, a ruby on the crown and a red leather alligator strap. They also display two registers on the dial and petroleum blue hands at 3-9 o’clock.
Except for the version with the diamond-set bezel which is limited to 50 pieces, the other four references are limited to 200 units each.
Cartier Santos Collection
Moving now to the novelties within the Cartier Santos line, the first highlight goes to the new Santos-Durmont Rewind which will have gone unnoticed by many, as it comes with a counterclockwise dial, running the hands from right to left and thus also reading the time, the watch is presented in a platinum case measuring 31.50mm by 43.50mm and 7.30mm thick and with a Carnelian red dial, which is driven by the 230 MC reversed manual movement. Attached to a red alligator leather strap matching the tone of the ruby encrusted on the crown, is a limited edition of 200 pieces.
Then we have a new trio of Cartier Santos-Dumont with lacquer that comes with sunburst dials, applied Arabic numerals and sword hands. Among them, we find a platinum version with a green dial limited to 200 pieces, a rose gold version with a blue dial and finally a yellow gold variant with a taupe dial. All of them are supplied with Caliber 430 MC.
An absolute debut in the Santos line is the new Cartier Santos Dual Time which arrives in a stainless steel case with dimensions of 40.20mm by 47.50mm and a height of 10.10mm. The grey dial comes in a sunray finish with the main highlight being the sub-dial at 6 o’clock that displays a second time zone that includes a day-night indicator, a date window next to the crown, Roman numerals and sword hands. The watch comes attached to a steel bracelet.
Still, within the Santos line, there are three more new items, the first comes in a two-tone case displaying an anthracite dial and is attached to a grey alligator leather strap and two others with a steel case and sunburst brown dial with a gradient effect and are attached to a steel bracelet in large and medium sizes. They all feature a dial with three centre hands, Roman numerals and a date window at 6 o’clock except the medium version whose date window is hidden.
