Breitling’s 140th Anniversary Honors Legacy With Debut Of Perpetual Calendar Chronograph

Breitling celebrates 140 years of history in style with the arrival of the brand’s first Perpetual Calendar Chronograph movement in a trio of watches.

The exclusive and Manufacture Caliber B19 combines the perpetual calendar, moon phase and chronograph complications, transposed into three historic Breitling models: the Premier, the Navitimer and the Chronomat.

The main star which, contrary to usual, is this time neither the case nor the dial of the watch, but rather the powerful B19 movement is COSC-certified, featuring a column wheel and vertical clutch, reaching 4 Hz and offering a staggering 96 hours (4 days) of power reserve. It is also worth highlighting the 22k gold rotor sculpted with La Chaux-de-Fonds Breitling Manufacture.

The three watches share an 18k red gold case, sapphire crystal on both sides, a crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pushers and 100m of water resistance, except the Navitimer whose resistance is only 30m. The same applies to the dial layout which features four sub-dials at 3-6-9-12 o’clock, substantiated by a 30-minute counter with a date pointer, a leap year with a month indicator, a running seconds with the day of the week and a moon phase display respectively.

Individually, the Premier Datora features 42mm in diameter, 15.60mm in thickness and 50mm in length, a black dial with applied gold Arabic numerals, syringe hands, a matching tachymeter inner bezel and a black Alligator leather strap.

The Navitimer embraces a case measuring 43mm wide, 15.60mm high and 49mm lug-to-lug distance, a red gold dial with applied baton hour markers and pencil hands, a black slide rule bezel and a leather strap similar to the Premier Dato but here comes with white stitching.

Lastly, the Super Chronomat which is the largest of the three with a 44m by 15.30mm case, an open-worked black dial with applied markers and three centre hands filled with Super-LumiNova, a 60-minute black bezel with rider tabs and a black rubber strap inspired by the famous Rouleaux bracelet.

The watches arrive in a wooden box and in addition to the watches include a storage drawer, travel pouch and the deluxe edition of the Breitling book 140 years in 140 stories, limited to 140 units and priced at €55,000 each.

New Avenger Night Mission Chronographs Pay Tribute To U.S. Naval Forces

Breitling’s affiliations with the world of aviation are historic, however, they almost always appear associated with its Navytimer model for well-known reasons, but today the brand brings us something different with three new Avenger Nigh Mission models paying homage to U.S. Naval Aviation Forces.

The new B01 chronographs come with the colours and emblems of three of these units, namely: US Naval Academy, VX-30 Bloodhounds test squadron and VX-31 Dust Devils test squadron.

On the outside, the watches wear a robust black ceramic case 46mm wide, 15.20mm high and 53mm lug-to-lug distance, bezel with claws and pip-lume at noon, sapphire crystal, crown flanked by rectangular pushers all in titanium and which material also extends to the open rear case that is engraved with the name of each of these units, and last but not least, 300m of waterproofing.

On the dial we find a Tri-Compax layout with three black registers at 3-6-9 o’clock substantiated by a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour register embracing a date window and a running seconds with the unit’s coat of arms in the background. A chronograph centre seconds hand and a minute track rehaut along the edges.

The US Naval Academy comes with a matte blue dial with yellow accents and a blue strap, the USN Dust Devils comes with a black dial with red details and a black strap with red stitching and finally, the USN Bloodhounds comes with an anthracite dial with yellow attributes and a black strap with yellow stitching.

The new Avenger Night Mission is powered by the Manufacture B01 automatic movement that features a column wheel, is COSC-certified, runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 70 hours of power reserve.

The watches come attached to a tapered textured leather strap matching the colours of the dials and a titanium pin buckle, with a price tag of €9,400.

Breitling Adds 10 New Navitimer’s Including A Cosmonaute With Automatic Movement

After seeing the arrival of the new Victoria Beckham Chronomat and the Aerospace B70 Orbiter as a kick-off to Breitling’s new season, it is now the turn of its most emblematic collection, the Navitimer, and it does so in a big way with the introduction of 10 new watches.

Navitimer B12 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute

The main highlight here goes to the new Cosmonaute, which for the first time exchanges the traditional manual movement for an automatic one, an absolute debut, wearing an 18k red gold case measuring 41mm by 13.60mm, a bezel with an improved grip to facilitate its handling with gloves.

The emerald green dial features three black registers at 3-6-9 o’clock which translate into a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour register and a running seconds respectively. The dial is painted with Arabic numerals on a 24-hour scale, which means that the hour hand completes one full rotation each day instead of the usual two, and also features a date window at 6 o’clock, slide-rule with various scales and the winged AOPA logo.

At its heart now lives the In-house Caliber B12, which operates 28,800 Vph and offers up to 70 hours of power reserve. Movement can be seen through the sapphire case back whose gold rotor is its main point of attraction.

The watch comes attached to a black alligator leather strap with a folding clasp in the same material as the case and arrives in a limited edition of 250 pieces exclusive to the brand’s Boutique and can be purchased for a price of €21,500.

Navitimer Automatic GMT 41

The second novelty is the new Navitimer GMT in 41 mm, which arrives in 4 new references, three in stainless steel with a black, ice blue or silver dial and one in 18k red gold with an emerald green dial.

All share a dial adorned with a slide rule, applied hour markers and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, a date window at 6 o’clock and a recessed 24-hour central disc that works in partnership with the extra GMT central hand.

Inside, the Caliber 32 automatic movement rules, which is COSC certified and is based on the ETA 2893-2, reaching 28,800 Vph and offering 42 hours of power reserve, and which is protected by the screwed solid case back.

Like the new Cosmonaute, the watches come attached to an alligator leather strap or a bracelet, with prices ranging from €5,650 for the steel versions to €15,300 for the red gold variant.

Navitimer Automatic 41

Finally, we have 5 new Navitimer Automatic which marks the return of the 41mm size to the collection with single time functions.

The different variants include three in stainless steel with a green, ice blue or deep blue dial, one in two tones (steel and 18k red gold) with a silver dial and last but not least one in 18k red gold with a silver dial.

The watch comes in the same round case measuring 41mm in diameter and 11.65mm thick as the Navitimer GMT and also with the same dial configuration, excluding the central 24-hour disc and the respective GMT hand and the same applies to the date window.

Equipped with the Caliber 17 automatic movement based on the ETA 2824-2 movement, it is chronometer-certified, working at a frequency of 4 Hz and offering up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The new Navitimer Automatic 41mm can be attached to an alligator leather strap or a 7-row bracelet matching the case material, with prices varying between €5,300 for the steel version with a leather strap and €14,900 for the red gold one.

Breitling Aerospace B70 Orbiter: A Tribute To Milestones In Aviation History

Breitling has just announced another cool launch, the Aerospace B70 Orbiter, which celebrates the brand’s double 140th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the Orbiter 3 balloon.

For the younger and less attentive, Orbiter 3 was the first balloon to complete a non-stop trip around the world, in an odyssey that ended with landing in Egypt on March 21, 1999.

Back in 2000, the Orbiter 3 had been the theme for a 1,999-piece limited edition of the Aerospace, called “The Emergency Orbiter 3”, which came with a blue dial adorned with a colourful Orbiter 3 logo.

The version that has just landed is different, wearing a modern titanium case that comes with the same 43mm diameter although taller, with the previous 10.80mm thickness now giving way to 12.95mm, thanks to its balloon rear case, as each watch comes with a part of the original balloon in a silvery grey tone on which sits the glass that comes painted with the balloon in black and orange. But the news doesn’t stop there, the watch now comes with a 60-minute bezel and reliefs at 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes with the latter being replaced by a pip-lume and two recessed push buttons, which is an absolute first, flanking the crown and its guards at 3 o’clock.

The dial appears in orange inspired by the tone of the Orbiter 3 capsule and comes with a gradient effect, becoming almost black near the edges features the traditional negative LCDs, two centre pencil hands that, like the Arabic numerals are filled with Super-LumiNova, except for the 3-6-9 which are oversized and applied, a white minute track and the brand’s logo and lettering applied at noon and in the centre the black inscriptions of “Aerospace Chronometer” at 9 o’clock and the Orbiter 3 logo next to the crown.

Inside runs the Caliber B70 Super Quartz, which in addition to being COSC certified, comes with analogue hours and minutes, digital seconds, digital perpetual calendar, second time zone, alarm, timer, flyback chronograph, and a battery end-of-life indicator.

The watch is now available with two strap options, with a black rubber strap or a 3-link titanium bracelet, both with folding clasp, with prices ranging between €4,600 for the first option and €4,800 for the second.

Breitling Teams Up With Victoria Beckham To Present An Exclusive Chronomat Collection

Victoria Beckham is the latest collaboration with Breitling, the renowned fashion designer has just presented an exclusive edition of the Chronomat 36 in six variants in steel and gold, whose dial tones are inspired by its spring/summer 2024 collection.

The new Chronomats have a very similar configuration to the rest of the collection, where the main highlight is the dial colors and their unique details.

There are three steel variants limited to 400 pieces each, which come with Peppermint, Midnight Blue and Dove Gray dials, and another three variants that come in 18k yellow gold of 100 pieces each, with the same green and blue dials as the steel and another Sand.

On the outside, the watches once again wear a moderately sized case measuring 36mm in diameter, 10mm thick and 43.30mm lug-to-lug distance that hardly leaves anyone out, featuring an unidirectional bezel matching the case that comes polished and which contrasts with the brushed surfaces of the case, sapphire crystal, pull crown with brand’s signature at 3 o’clock, solid case back double engraved with the name of the British Designer and 100m of water resistance.

The shades of the dial, although not new to the brand, stand out from the rest as they now come with a matte finish instead of the traditional sunburst effect, and on it we can find the usual layout of applied baton hour markers with lumed tips, pencil hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova, date window with white background at 6 o’clock, and two new features, a central seconds hand that no longer comes with an arrow-shaped tip taking the shape of a needle and with the counterweight with the initials ‘VB’ by Victoria Beckham instead of Breitling’s traditional ‘B’. The other novelty is the ‘Chronomat’ inscription disappears at 6 o’clock, giving way to the inscriptions ‘One Of 400’ or ‘One Of 100’, whether they are steel or gold variants, in a clear allusion to its limited edition.

Inside, everything is the same, operating the Breitling 10 automatic movement which is COSC certified, reaching 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve.

As is also tradition in the collection, the new Chronomat’s come with the Rouleaux bracelet in the same material as the case, mainly with a brushed finish and polished connection links. Finally, it should also be noted that the bracelet comes with a folding clasp with Victoria Beckham’s signature that replaces the brand’s logo.

The watches are priced at €5,500 for the blue and green steel versions, €5,800 for the gray version as it adds lab-grown diamonds on the dial, and €29,500 for the three gold editions.

Breitling Presents The SuperOcean Heritage ’57 Highlands Capsule Collection

Breitling is another brand that has been very active at the end of the year, having presented the renewed Avenger collection in November, which was also joined by the Chronomat Automatic 36 South Sea in a capsule collection, and it was in December that it launched the Top Time Classic Cars Tourbillon, which was followed by the unexpected but exciting announcement of the acquisition of Universal Geneve and its new brand ambassador Sara Carbonero, topics that we leave the link in the description if you want to know more about them. And today Breitling brings us the Superocean Heritage ’57 Highlands capsule collection.

The new capsule collection is inspired by the rocky shores and misty peaks of the Scottish highlands, inviting overland adventure.

This is a limited production collection that arrives in the form of four color variants on the dial and which also extend to the bezel, namely beige, green, mustard yellow and blue.

On the outside, the round watches wear a stainless steel case of moderate dimensions, measuring 38mm in diameter, 9.35mm thick and just 42mm lug-to-lug distance. Bidirectional 18k red gold bezel with ceramic insert matching the tone of the dial and pip-lume over an inverted triangle at 12 o’clock, fluted crown with brand’s signature at 3 o’clock, screwed solid case back and 100m waterproof.

On dials that come with a sunburst finish, we can find gilt applied hour markers in the form of elongated triangles and to which a circular geometric shape is added in the positions of the four main cardinal points, which like the three central hands come filled with Super-LumiNova, finnaly the brand’s logo followed by its lettering at noon and ‘SuperOcean’ inscription at 6 o’clock.

Inside, it comes equipped with the Caliber B10 automatic movement, which is COSC certified, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve.

In addition to the Mesh steel bracelet to which the watches are attached, a complementary strap is supplied in fabric inspired by the Scottish tweed obtained from a mixture of wool and silk, in brown tones for the beige and blue variants and in green for the green and mustard yellow.

Breitling Now Brings The Top Time Classic Cars Tourbillon

The Breitling Top Time Classic Cars collection is back and this time it brings three new models that now add a tourbillon to the chronograph complication.

A collection that has its ancestors way back in the 60s when it first appeared to respond to lovers of speed, since then the collection has undergone updates, counting in recent years with the partnership of three car brands, being they are the already known Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette and Shelby Cobra.

The big news already revealed is the tourbillon displayed on the dial, driven by the Caliber B21 developed in partnership with Manufacture LaJoux-Perret that debuted last year, but also the diversity of materials used, on the outside and the dial.

As for the different variants, the Ford Mustang comes in a 43mm bronze case whose material also extends to the crown and the two pushers, a titanium case back and folding clasp and a green dial with gilt accents and a brown leather strap. The Shelby Cobra comes with a 44mm ceramic case, titanium case back, crown, pushers and folding clasp, and a blue leather strap matching the tone of the dial. Finally, the Chevrolet Corvette comes in a 44mm titanium case whose material also extends to the crown, pushers, case back and folding clasp, a walnut root wood dial and brown leather strap.

The three chronographs, despite differences in materials, share the same layout on the dial, featuring an inner tachymeter black bezel, tourbillon at noon with a horizontal bridge and rotating cage, squircle 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock, applied hour markers and white minute track matching with inscriptions of the brand’s lettering at 3 o’clock and ‘Chronograph’ followed by the name of the collection at 9 o’clock.

Inside runs the automatic movement B21 with a column wheel which is COSC certified, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 55 hours of power reserve. This can be observed in operation through the open rear case whose main highlight is the skeletonized oscillating mass.

The watches, which come attached to a rally-style perforated leather strap, can now be purchased at the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for a price of €45,000.

Our Opinion

For chronograph lovers, the inclusion of a tourbillon may not be well understood, as it reduces the chronograph function to a single counter, however, it may delight those who like speed and complications, being a kind of two-in-one.

We who are more traditionalists think that, as here says, ‘every monkey has its branch’ and therefore it continues to cause some confusion for us to mix these two complications, however, this launch is not a surprise for us since Caliber B21 called for new ventures and the market too.

The diversity of materials used seems interesting and thus serves different targets, while the price of close to €50,000 seems challenging to us compared to so many alternatives on the market.

Introducing The Breitling Chronomat Automatic 36 South Sea – Capsule Collection

Breitling launches a Chronomat Automatic 36 South Sea capsule collection, with three watches with dials in vibrant tones and adorned with precious stones on the dial and bezel, clearly aimed at women but also for confident men.

The watches come mounted in a traditional round stainless steel case in a moderate size of 36mm, bezel in 18k white gold or 18k red gold with a set-diamond, sapphire crystal, bullet-shaped crown at 3 o’clock and 100m water resistance.

On the dial, we can find applied hour markers with a diamond tip on the top and pencil hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, a centre seconds hand with a red arrow-shape tip and the brand’s logo as a counterweight, a minute chapter ring and finally, a date window at 6 o’clock.

As for the different variants, we have a variant with a sunray light blue dial and a white gold bezel adorned with diamonds in shades of blue and lilac. Then we have a variant with a sunray green dial that comes with a red gold bezel that matches the crown and accents on the dial, and which is adorned with diamonds in shades of blue, green and yellow.
