Rolex Day-Date Collection Unleashes Elegant New Faces
Every year Rolex brings some new dials to its Day-Date collection and this year was no different, bringing two novelties in the wider 40mm size and another one in the smaller 36mm size.
In the 40mm size comes what is perhaps the most striking of them to our eyes, the Slate Ombré (ref. 228235) whose sunburst effect dial makes an excellent contrast with its Everose gold case as well as the Roman markers on the dial, the other novelty within the same size is an absolute debut in the collection, a white mother of pearl dial (ref. 228239) which is presented in an 18k white gold case to which is added a 10-baguette-cut diamonds hour markers.
Finally, in the 36mm size, there is now a white dial (ref. 128238) with Roman markers in a rose gold case that is a real winner on the wrist and if it weren’t for the Slate Ombré also coming in a 36mm case we would have not one but two winners.
On the dial, in addition to the baton hour markers or Roman numerals, we find three centre hands, a date window at 3 o’clock and a weekday window at noon just above the embossed logo of the Swiss brand.
And if on the outside there is little to add, keep the base structure with sapphire glass with magnifyer, fluted bezel, signed crown, solid case back and Presidential bracelet. Inside there are also no new features, running the 3255 automatic movement regardless of the case size, presenting an accuracy of +/- 2 seconds per day and an interesting 70 hours of power reserve.
Regarding prices, they start at CHF 33,600 for the 36mm version, evolving to CHF 39,800 for the Slate Ombré version in 40mm and ending at CHF 45,100 for the white gold version.
