TAG Heuer’s Latest Collaboration Brings A Clean New Look To The Carrera
TAG Heuer expands its contemporary Carrera line with a new limited edition created in partnership with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment design studio. This release revisits the brand’s signature “Glassbox” architecture while introducing a streamlined monochrome aesthetic that focuses purely on legibility and mechanical performance.
A Modern Take on the Carrera Glassbox
The watch features the familiar 39 mm stainless-steel Carrera case, which is water-resistant to 100 meters and fitted with classic pump-style chronograph pushers. The combination of angular lugs with alternating brushed and polished finishing preserves the instantly recognisable Carrera silhouette. The design continues to rely on the “Glassbox” construction, characterised by a domed sapphire crystal that rises above the tachymeter flange and curves all the way to the case’s outer edge. This architecture enhances visibility and creates optical distortions when viewed from different angles, emphasising the depth of the dial.

Refined Monochrome Dial Design
Fragment’s interpretation is built around a matte black opaline dial paired with a high-set white tachymeter flange featuring subtle silver-toned numerals. The chronograph maintains the traditional tri-compax layout, with the 30-minute counter positioned at 3 o’clock, the 12-hour totaliser at 9 o’clock, and the running seconds at 6 o’clock. In keeping with Fujiwara’s minimalist direction, all three sub-dials are rendered without numerical markers, relying solely on baton-style indicators. Around the dial, the hour positions are not marked with applied indices but with small grey Super-LumiNova plots, which work in coordination with rhodium-plated hands that contain white Super-LumiNova inserts for optimal readability. At 12 o’clock, a framed date window displays the Fragment lightning-bolt motif on a black background, and the “FRAGMENT” signature sits discreetly at 6 o’clock.

Calibre TH20-00 Inside
Powering the watch is TAG Heuer’s in-house calibre TH20-00, a chronograph movement built with a column wheel and a vertical clutch to ensure precise start, stop and reset functions. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 80 hours. The sapphire caseback reveals the Fragment lightning-bolt emblem printed above the movement, positioned over an openworked rotor that includes black-lined detailing created specifically for this edition.

Bracelet and Presentation
The watch is equipped with TAG Heuer’s newly revived seven-row beads-of-rice bracelet. For this limited edition, the central link is treated with black PVD, creating a restrained contrast while preserving the bracelet’s vintage character. Each piece comes delivered in a black presentation box to match the monochrome design of the watch itself.
