Our Take

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF line remains one of my personal favorites in the discreet luxury segment—a space that still flies under the radar for much of the wider public. That relative anonymity may well be linked to pricing, especially in a market crowded with high-profile alternatives at similar levels.

Within the collection, several models stand out to me. The minute rattrapante is remarkably clever and impressively well executed; the limited-edition skeleton with slate green accents was a watch I genuinely fell for last year; and of course, the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor itself. Despite being automatic, it almost convinces you that you’re looking at a hand-wound movement—until the micro-rotor quietly gives it away—while still preserving the slender profile usually associated with manual calibres.

That said, many of these references continue to lean toward wider case diameters, which personally leaves me gravitating toward the 36 mm Tonda PF Automatic. But complaints aside, the real story here is the introduction of the Agave Blue dial. Its blue-green tone adds a fresh dimension to the Micro-Rotor lineup and sits beautifully alongside the equally striking Golden Siena with its warm yellow-orange hue. It’s a thoughtful addition that broadens the collection and gives enthusiasts more expressive yet still understated options to choose from.

Parmigiani Fleurier continues to refine its high-end sports watch offering with the introduction of the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph in 18k Rose Gold, now presented with a new Sandstone dial configuration. This addition emphasizes a more minimal and balanced aesthetic, further solidifying the brand’s commitment to technical excellence and refined design.

A Clean Evolution in Design

The most noticeable change in this latest model is the absence of a date complication—a first for the precious-metal entries in the PF Sport Chronograph lineup. Previously, the date window positioned at 4:30 had been a consistent feature across both steel and gold versions. By removing this element, the dial now appears more symmetrical and focused, catering to those who prefer a purist chronograph layout.

Case and Materials

The case remains true to the dimensions that define the Sport sub-line: 42 mm in diameter and 12.90 mm in thickness, crafted entirely from polished and satin-finished 18k rose gold. Parmigiani’s signature knurled bezel, meticulously executed by hand, continues to serve as a distinctive design hallmark.

A textured rubber strap in Tufo beige, designed to resemble Cordura fabric, complements the overall look. While it offers the sporty resilience of rubber, it carries the visual softness and sophistication of textile—underscoring the dual-purpose nature of the watch.

Dial Workmanship

The Clou Triangulaire guilloché pattern returns, offering a rich, tactile texture across the dial surface. This edition combines a silver-toned dial base with Sandstone-colored subdials, creating a warm, sunlit visual effect. As with previous Tonda PF models, the guilloché is produced using traditional methods on a rose engine, affirming Parmigiani’s dedication to artisanal craftsmanship.

High-Performance Movement

Powering the chronograph is the Caliber PF070, a high-frequency automatic movement that operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz). Certified by COSC, the movement features twin barrels for a 65-hour power reserve, a column wheel, and an integrated vertical clutch chronograph mechanism. It also includes a free-sprung balance for enhanced timekeeping stability.

The movement’s finishing includes a skeletonized 22k rose gold rotor, visible through the sapphire caseback, offering a view into the finely decorated architecture within the 7 mm-thick caliber.

A Permanent Addition

This rose gold Sandstone variant is not a limited edition, but rather a permanent addition to the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph range. Its retail price is CHF 49,000.

I don’t know why, but the review of the new Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Perpetual Calendar has been delayed. As they say, we always leave the best for last—and this watch certainly belongs in that category. While we would have loved to see it in a slightly smaller case, the world isn’t perfect, and neither are our preferences. Still, there’s a lot to admire here.

Unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2025, the latest addition to the Toric collection elevates the art of traditional watchmaking with a masterful interpretation of one of horology’s most complex complications. Encased in precious metal, the timepiece reflects the collection’s signature design language—an elegant blend of symmetry, minimalism, and mechanical sophistication that reveals the depth of craftsmanship at its core.

The Toric Perpetual Calendar is available in two 40.6mm case variations: 950 platinum and 18k rose gold, each measuring a svelte 10.9mm in height. Both feature the Toric’s distinctive knurled bezel—a signature design element rooted in classical architecture and geometry. The case lines are polished throughout, contributing to its role as an elegant dress watch.

At the heart of the watch is a manually wound movement: the Calibre PF733. This rose gold movement integrates a perpetual calendar module atop the base architecture used in the Toric Small Seconds model. Comprising 265 components, the calibre operates at 4 Hz and offers a 60-hour power reserve from twin barrels. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, revealing geometric bridges adorned with the brand’s proprietary Côtes de Fleurier finishing and a sandblasted gold mainplate.

The dial of each version offers a distinct visual identity. The platinum model is equipped with a “Morning Blue” dial, while the rose gold variant features a “Golden Hour” dial. Both are finished with a traditional grenage technique, creating a velvety matte surface that subtly plays with light. A recessed ring encircles the central portion of the dial, enhancing legibility and depth. The perpetual calendar indications are arranged coaxially at 4 and 8 o’clock and are framed in gold, matching the case material. An applied oval PF logo sits just below the 12 o’clock position.

Hour markers, crafted from either white or rose gold, are applied along the gently curved perimeter. The hour and minute hands follow Parmigiani’s signature delta-shaped profile, also rendered in gold. Notably, there is no luminescence or extraneous text on the dial, allowing the essential time and calendar information to take visual precedence.

The perpetual calendar function accounts for the complexities of leap years, automatically adjusting for months with varying lengths. Date correction is handled via three discreet correctors integrated into the side of the case.

Each version of the Toric Perpetual Calendar is paired with a hand-stitched, Arctic Grey nubuck alligator strap featuring a pin buckle that matches the case material. Limited to 50 pieces per variant, pricing is set at CHF 92,000 for the platinum model and CHF 85,000 for the rose gold edition.

Though not as compact as we might have wished, the Toric Perpetual Calendar more than compensates with its balance of classical aesthetics, high-end finishing, and mechanical depth. It’s a quiet statement for those who appreciate watchmaking’s more contemplative side.

Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2025, Parmigiani Fleurier expands its Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante collection with a new dial color inspired by the Verzasca Valley in southern Switzerland. The new Verzasca edition maintains the elegant mechanics of the original model while introducing a fresh palette that draws from the natural beauty of alpine waters.

A Subtle Take on Travel Time

First introduced in 2022, the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante offers a streamlined interpretation of the GMT complication. At first glance, it presents a two-hand layout. However, pressing the pusher at 8 o’clock reveals a second hour hand, discreetly hidden beneath the primary one. This rose gold hand serves as the home time reference, while the rhodium-plated white gold hand is used for local time.

Each press of the pusher advances the local hour hand in one-hour increments—ideal for shifting through time zones. Once the wearer returns home, a push of the button integrated into the crown snaps the white gold hand back over the rose gold one, reestablishing the original single-hand display.

This mechanical choreography is powered by the Caliber PF051, a self-winding movement featuring a micro-rotor crafted from 22ct rose gold. The movement is composed of 215 components, runs at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz), and provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. It measures just 4.97mm in height, contributing to the watch’s slim profile.

Refined Case and Bracelet Construction

The 40mm case is made of stainless steel and is matched with Parmigiani’s signature reeded bezel in 950 platinum, adding a layer of visual and material refinement. The case is 10.7mm thick and is water-resistant to 60 meters. It is paired with a fully integrated stainless steel bracelet featuring polished and satin-brushed finishes.

Verzasca Green: Inspired by Nature

The new dial is colored in a shade Parmigiani calls Verzasca green, evoking the hues found in the waters of the Verzasca River in Ticino. The tone blends soft green with hints of blue, presented on a barleycorn guilloché pattern that adds texture without distraction. The applied indices and minimalistic layout allow the color and craftsmanship to stand out while preserving legibility and elegance.
