Doxa Introduces The SUB 300T “Aristera” For Left-Handed Divers

Doxa brings a new SUB 300T that is different from all the others as it is the first automatic SUB for left-handers, an absolute debut that comes with the unmistakable orange dial.

It is a limited edition of 300 units named “Aristera” which for those who don’t know, like us, means left in Greek.

The watch features the characteristic Tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measuring 42.50mm wide, 14mm high and 44.50mm long with a brushed finish, sapphire crystal, bezel with aluminium insert with double diving scale marked in black and red, screw-down crown which, as already mentioned, now migrates to the 9 o’clock position, freeing up the previous 3 o’clock position, which is now filled with a recessed Helium escape valve, screwed solid case back and the always impressive 1,200m of water resistance.

On the bright orange dial we once again find the usual arrangement with rectangular hour markers delimited by black bars that match the three centre hands and which are all filled with Super-LumiNova, a minute track along the edges, a date window at 3 o’clock that, unlike others, it did not follow the repositioning of the crown and the brand’s traditional lettering followed by “Automatic” in the upper left quadrant and “SUB 300T” and “Professional” inscriptions in the lower right quadrant.

The watch, due to the displacement of the crown, comes with a new ETA 2824 movement that is in every way similar to the Sellita SW200-1 that we find in the other SUB 300T in the collection, which operates 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The new “Aristera” comes attached to a Beads-of-Rice steel bracelet with a folding clasp and an additional customized NATO strap that can be purchased from October for €2,490.

Doxa Releases Tribute Watch For Clive Cussler’s 93rd Birthday

Clive Cussler, the famous North American novelist, if he were alive would be 93 years old today and Doxa to mark the date presents the special edition of the SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler.

The connection between Doxa and the author goes back a long way, not only because the main character of his novels, Dirk Pitt, uses a Doxa SUB on his adventures, but also because Clive Cussler used the watch in his second activity as a maritime archaeologist that took him to found the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA).

This edition follows from the previous edition presented in May last year, also dedicated to the author and which stood out for coming in an aged-steel case that mimics the effect produced on steel by using the watch underwater over the years.

The watch thus once again embraces a Tonneau-shaped case in aged steel with dimensions of 42.50mm by 14mm, which comes with a unidirectional metallic bezel with two scales, a red outer one and a black inner one, sapphire crystal, recessed crown at 3 o’clock, helium escape valve, screwed solid case back engraved with the names of shipwrecks and artefacts discovered by NUMA and 300m of watertightness.

The dial that once again comes with the compass rose in the background is this time in black, featuring polished block hour markers that, like the three centre hands, are filled with beige Super-LumiNova, a date window next to the crown with a beige background and which again comes with the red numbers 7, 15 and 31 that correspond to the author’s date of birth and finally the white inscriptions of the brand followed by “Automatic” of the movement at 10 o’clock and the model of the watch preceded by Clive Cussler in red at 4 o’clock.

Inside, we again discover the Sellita Sw200-1 automatic movement that runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch, like the previous edition, comes attached to an aged-steel beads-of-rice bracelet, to which it now adds an extra black FKM strap with a folding clasp in aged-steel. The set also includes a book by the author.

It is a limited edition of 93 units with individual numbers inscribed between lugs and can now be purchased for €3,350.

Introducing The Doxa SUB 200T 39MM

Doxa is yet another brand listening to the public’s call for moderately sized watches and the answer has just arrived through the new Sub 200T collection which comes in a 39mm case and many colour options on the dial.

Despite its small size, anyone who thinks that the eternal diving watch has become weaker would be mistaken, as it retains all of its traditional characteristics with which it has become famous over the years in underwater activities.

On the outside, the watch comes in its original format, featuring a stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter, 10.70mm thick and 41.50mm lug-to-lug distance, which sounds crazy for a work watch like this. It comes with the usual mainly brushed finish, no-decompressing bezel, sapphire glass, recessed screw-down crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s signature, screwed solid case back and 200m waterproof.

On the dial 8 colour options break down into 13 variants, with the Sharkhunter (black), Professional (orange), Divingstar (yellow), Aquamarine (light blue) and Caribbean (navy blue) tones coming with a sunray or matte dial, the Searambler (silver) and the Sea Emerald (green) with a sunray dial and finally the Whitepearl (white) with a matte dial. In them, we can find the usual layout, of three bold central hands that, like the printed hour markers, are filled with Super-LumiNova, a painted minute track, a date window next to the crown and a 60-minute outer bezel.

Inside there is nothing new, the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement that we also find in other models continues to operate, and which, without being dazzling, continues to prove efficient, reaching 28,800 Vph and offering a meagre 38 hours of power reserve.

The watches come attached to an FKM rubber strap matching the dial or a beads-of-rice steel bracelet with a folding clasp, with prices varying between €1,550 for the first option and €1,590 for the second.

Our Opinion

We loved it, we have long been in favour of moderately sized watches and when they are combined with a brand that we also really like not only for its history but also its journey, it is the perfect marriage.

The brand was smart about maintaining the main features of the dive watch and thus managing to hold the public’s interest, which is why we believe that the 13 variants that have just debuted should be enough to leave no one out and keep us entertained next week in Geneva where we hope to see them live.

Introducing The New Doxa Sub 300β Collection

Doxa has just presented its new Sub 300β collection, after debuting in August the Sub 300β Sharkhunter in carbon and 18k gold, which was, after all, an appetizer for what was coming.

The new Sub 300β collection now arrives with a steel case, with a more elegant profile but maintains the 300m water resistance, ceramic bezel, textured dial and in five colour variants.

On the outside it wears the traditional cushion-shaped stainless steel case measuring 42.50mm in diameter, 11.95mm thick and just 44.50mm lug-to-lug distance, black ceramic bezel with coloured accents and a pip-lume at noon, sapphire glass, screw-down crown with a black PVD, screwed solid case back and 300m water resistance.

The dials, which now come with a wave pattern, feature a sunburst finish, and on them, we can find baton hour markers and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, a lollipop centre seconds hand, a date window at 3 o’clock and the usual lettering inscriptions of the brand followed by ‘Automatic’ of the movement at 10 o’clock and the name of the collection followed by the variant at 4 o’clock.

As for the different variants, they come with names already known from other collections with the ‘Professional’, ‘Divingstar’ and ‘Aquamarine’ sharing the black dial and with coloured details in orange, yellow and turquoise respectively, in the dial accents, bezel and crown. The ‘Caribbean’ comes with a blue dial and the ‘Searambler’ with a white dial, and both with the same coloured details as the other three variants but in orange. It should also be noted that the ‘Caribbean’ is the only one that comes with a two-colour bezel, with black on the edge and blue on the surface.

Inside, it runs a Swiss automatic movement, which reaches 28,800 Bph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

Ulysse Nardin The Freak One OPS

First launched in 2001 and chosen as the winner of the Iconic Watch prize at this year’s GPHG awards, the watch maintains its futuristic characteristics without a crown and with a movement that also works as hands.

Doxa, in partnership with the founders of the event, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons launches a new variant of its Sub 300β line, in a limited edition of 50 pieces, an exclusive to Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.

The watch maintains all the technical and aesthetic characteristics of its peers, with the exception of the dial which now comes in blue mother-of-pearl matching the bezel insert and attached to a white rubber strap.

The new variant of the Streamliner Small Seconds comes with some very interesting new features, starting with the appealing blue enamel-grained dial, which also comes with a gradient effect, the tone of which intensifies from the centre to the outside.

Its dimensions have also been reduced, now embracing a case measuring 39mm in diameter and 10.90mm thick, largely thanks to its new internal movement, the In-house HMC 500 micro-rotor, which operates at a frequency of 3 Hz and offers 3 days of power reserve.

Frederique Constant Highlife Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar & The Avener Editions

There are three Frederique Constant releases, and starting with the ‘simple’ ones, these are two limited editions of 432 pieces each launched in partnership with the French musician and producer Avener, with the basic time and date functions, which stand out for their its dials that try to recreate the sound waves of the studio monitors in blue in the steel version and in grey in the version with a case with black sandblasted DLC coating.

The other novelty is also a limited edition of 35 pieces of the Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar that comes in a 41mm rose gold case and with a blue dial.

Inside there is nothing new operating the Caliber 733 based on the Sellita SW200-1 which offers up to 41h of power reserve.

The watch that joins the permanent collection can be purchased with a copper bracelet or a black rubber strap.

Introducing The New Doxa SUB 300β Sharkhunter

The new Doxa SUB 300β Sharkhunter is probably the brand’s most cosmopolitan watch as it is almost an antithesis to the design of the rest of the collection.

And if we got used to recognizing Doxa by its diving watches, the new generation could bring more news, not in terms of capabilities but more aesthetically, and the new model proves just that, with a blackout code that extends from the case to the band and that passes through the dial only attenuated by some golden details.

The new Doxa thus wears the cushion-shape case of the SUB300, which is now in black ceramic, with the same 42.50mm diameter but is narrower, 11.95mm thick compared to the 13.40mm of the SUB300 collection, 18k yellow gold crown and bezel and an insert black with a matching tone scale. Sapphire glass on the front, solid Titanium case on the back and 300m water resistance.

The same formula is repeated on the dial, which features a grainy black background with inscriptions and a date window at 3 o’clock also all in black, which makes reading it a real challenge, bold and gold applied hour indexes and black hands all filled with beige Super-LumiNova.

Inside, there is no longer room for ETA movements dictated by the “embargo” of the Swatch Group, starting now to operate its “clone” movement, the Sellita SW200, which is COSC certified, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 38 hours of power reserve which has long ceased to impress.

The watch is attached to a rubber FKM strap with the same black code, which will be available from October 2023 at a price of €7,250.

Introducing The Doxa Sub 300T Clive Cussler

Known for equipping the wrists of famed divers and explorers, Doxa now pays tribute to acclaimed novelist and explorer Clive Cussler who died in 2020.

Clive Cussler, author of over 85 books and selling over 100 million copies, was also an avid explorer having participated in over 60 shipwreck expeditions for the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA).

From here comes the special edition Doxa Sub 300T Clive Cussler, an exceptional watch that looks more like an artefact obtained from underwater explorations.

As we already mentioned, the new Doxa is really something very special, since it dresses the traditional pillow-shaped case of 42.5mm in diameter, 13.4mm thick and 44.5mm (L2L) in stainless steel that comes with an aged PVD coating whose effect is it resembles a well-worn and unspared watch where the scratches are not hidden, and the same formula applies to the beads-of-rice bracelet the watch is attached to. But the novelties on the outside do not end here, if we turn the case upside down we can find the screwed case back carved with the names of 72 shipwrecks and artefacts discovered by NUMA ordered in a radial form in 9 lines of text around the central medallion. There is also a screw-down crown and a helium escape valve integrated into the case that supports its impressive 1,200m of water resistance.

And if the unusual “aged” case prevails on the outside, the beige dial does not disappoint on the inside, offering an effect comparable to the much sought-after “tropical dials”, which are designed with a “faded” vintage compass on the background, black painted hour markers and hands filled with aged Super-LumiNova, a centre lollipop seconds hand with a red tip and a date window at 3 o’clock, which adds yet another surprise, as it features the numbers 7, 15 and 31 coloured in red paying tribute to the Cussler’s date of birth, July 15, 1931.

The new Doxa is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement that pulsates 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The Doxa Clive Cussler special edition is offered in a vintage hardcover book box, whose contents in addition to the watch with the bracelet include an additional beige nylon strap that can be purchased for the price of €2,690. The brand also offers the possibility of purchasing an optional black FKM rubber strap with a deployment clasp.

It is not a limited edition but we believe that it must be of limited production and in that sense we suspect that the available units will not warm up for a long time on the “shelves”.

Introducing the Doxa Army in Steel

At the end of April this year we witnessed the relaunch of the almost forgotten Doxa Army, which came with a black ceramic case based on its Sub 300T model in a very limited edition of 100 units that shortly after being put on the market flew and made the delights of the lucky few who managed to grab it.

Four months later, two variants of standard production now appear that can alleviate the disappointment of all those who were unable to buy at the beginning of the year. It’s clear that the two new variants don’t have the stealthy look of the recent black ceramic version, but they do boast many of the Doxa Army’s features, namely the beige dial with black and orange accents and the much-desired “Army” insignia.

The two new Doxas Army now come in a stainless steel case with a brushed finish, one more conservative with a steel bezel and black ceramic insert and a more contemporary one with a bronze bezel and hunter green ceramic insert, with minute scale and numerals filled with luminescent material.

Inside it comes with the ETA 2824 automatic movement, which is very similar to the Sellita SW220-1 that was fitted to the April limited edition, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve, a slight increase compared to the 38 hours offered by the Sellita.

The new diver watches are offered with a “Beads of Rice” steel bracelet or rubber strap both with folding clasp and dive extension, either option includes an extra Nato camouflage strap. The base price is €2,050 for the all-steel version with the rubber strap option, plus €40 if you opt for the steel bracelet and €200 for the steel and bronze variant.

The Return of the Doxa Army

More than fifty years ago, Doxa, after seeing its Sub 300T model approved by the Swiss Army, becoming part of the restricted list of watch suppliers to equip its divers, the Doxa Army was created in very small quantities based on the purpose of supply the army.

The Doxa Army, distinguished by its coated stainless-steel case with individually numbered case back and its beige dial with the Army logo, orange hands and black accents, in recent years and given its rarity has become one of the most sought after watches by collectors.

Today and just like half a decade ago, Doxa is again producing its historical model Army model, also in reduced quantities but this time in the form of a limited edition in a total of 100 units, although now in a black ceramic case with the same beige dial and truly similar to the original model.

So the watch comes with a ceramic case measuring 42.5mm in diameter by 11.95mm in thickness, a unidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal, titanium case back and 300m of water resistance. Inside operates the Sellita SW220-1 automatic movement which is COSC-certified and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch comes with a black FKM rubber strap and an additional NATO camouflage strap and is offered in a camouflage case.

The Doxa Army is priced at €4,200 and seems to have been sold out.
