Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm Now Available In Stainless Steel
Blancpain has just expanded its Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm collection, and this time it’s in stainless steel. Following the recent introductions of the model in titanium and red gold, the new steel variant adds a more traditional material to the lineup—though it doesn’t mean a more affordable price tag.
Same Legendary Design, Now in Steel
The new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm in stainless steel maintains all the hallmarks of the model. It features a 42mm case diameter and a 14.30mm thickness, giving it a bold and solid wrist presence. The case comes primarily with a polished finish, which, while elegant, might feel a touch too refined for a dive watch—but that’s a matter of taste.
Other key exterior features include a unidirectional bezel with a domed black sapphire insert, a sapphire crystal, and drilled lugs. The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, comes with protective guards, and screws down to ensure proper sealing. On the back, the open screwed case back provides a view of the movement, while the robust 300 meters (1000 feet) of water resistance marks this watch as a serious tool for diving.
Classic Fifty Fathoms Dial Design
The black sunburst dial remains faithful to the collection’s signature aesthetic. It showcases applied hour markers and Arabic numerals that are filled with Super-LumiNova, paired with faceted sword-shaped hands, also treated with the luminous material, for excellent legibility in low-light conditions. There is a discreet date window located at 4:30, with a background color that matches the dial for a seamless look. The central seconds hand features a red tip that adds a dynamic touch, and a white minute track is printed along the edge of the dial. Branding appears at the top with the Blancpain logo, while the lower half is signed with the Fifty Fathoms name and its 1000ft water resistance rating.
Powerful In-House Movement
Powering the watch is the trusted Blancpain Caliber 1315, an in-house automatic movement. It features 35 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and boasts an impressive 5-day power reserve. This movement is celebrated for its robustness, precision, and reliability, making it a perfect match for a watch designed for demanding underwater performance.
Four Strap Options, One Steel Icon
To suit different tastes and occasions, Blancpain offers four references of the new stainless steel model, each distinguished by a different strap option. These include a classic sailcloth strap, a sporty NATO fabric strap, and a retro-inspired Tropic rubber strap. For those who prefer a full metal look, there’s also a stainless steel bracelet option that complements the case perfectly.
Prices for the new Fifty Fathoms Automatique 42mm in stainless steel start at € 17,250 for the NATO strap and go up to € 20,050 for the bracelet configuration. Importantly, this release is not a limited edition and will become a permanent part of Blancpain’s collection.
