Chanel’s Haute Couture Watch Collection Mesmerizes With Sewing Motifs
Chanel brought the beloved haute couture theme back to its biggest watch showcase at this year’s Watches and Wonders.
There were many new items presented, including necklaces with pendulums in the shape of safety pins, sewing thimbles, couture mannequins, watches with scissor-shaped hands and bezel/strap in the style of a sewing measuring tape, pin cushion watch rings and even a musical clock.
We highlight three pieces here, starting with the iconic J12 watch measuring 33mm by 12.94mm, which arrives in a white ceramic case with the option of diamonds and a bezel in the shape of a sewing measuring tape.
The sewing theme continues across the white dial whose main highlight is the two central scissor-shaped hands that are also accompanied by a needle seconds hand, Arabic numerals and a checkered background reminiscent of fabrics.
Inside there is nothing new and we once again find the Caliber 12.2 automatic movement that offers a comfortable 50h of power reserve when fully charged.
The new J12 Couture 33mm comes attached to a white ceramic bracelet matching the case and is a limited edition of 55 pieces.
Another piece that caught our eyes was the Mademoiselle Prive Pincushion ring, which is studded with diamonds both on the outside and inside, with a black padded dial adorned with 134 gold pearls and joined by two centre hands. The watch is driven by a Quartz movement and is limited to 5 pieces.
Last but not least, the impressive Bobbin Cuff Couture, which presents as a single piece, in 18k yellow gold with a full set of diamonds and a no less impressive yellow emerald cut sapphire that comes with a hidden Quartz watch.
Prices for these exclusive pieces must be requested from the brand.
