Precision In Blue: Introducing The Massena LAB x Raúl Pagès TZ30
Massena LAB and independent watchmaker Raúl Pagès have unveiled their latest collaboration: the TZ30, a limited-edition timepiece created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of TimeZone.com. The release continues the ongoing partnership between the design studio and Pagès, known for his meticulous approach to hand-finished movements and classical Swiss watchmaking principles.
A Case Built Around Balance and Proportion
The TZ30 is housed in a 38.50 mm stainless steel case, defined by clean lines and a profile inspired by mid-century wristwatches. Measuring 10 mm in thickness, the watch offers a compact presence on the wrist, supported by a sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective treatment for optimal clarity.
On the reverse, an exhibition caseback provides a full view of the movement and features engraving commemorating the three decades of TimeZone’s existence alongside each watch’s individual serial number.
Vertically Brushed Blue Dial With Observatory Influence
At the center of the design is a deep blue dial with a vertical brushed finish, producing subtle tonal shifts under changing light. Its layout follows a traditional observatory-style arrangement, a configuration historically associated with high-precision timekeeping and here used as a nod to the Patek Philippe Ref. 2458, a notable mid-20th-century chronometer. The small seconds register sits at 9 o’clock, balanced visually by the “Observatory Precision” marking at 3 o’clock, while rhodium-plated feuille hands and baton indices ensure clarity and refinement.
Manual-Wind Calibre M690, Supervised by Raúl Pagès
Inside the TZ30 is the Massena LAB M690 calibre, a hand-wound movement derived from the AMT Manufacture AMT6600. The movement has been reworked under the supervision of Raúl Pagès, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 60-hour power reserve.
Visible through the sapphire back, the movement features Côtes de Genève striping, polished anglage, and perlage, along with the signature Pagès tortoise hallmark engraved on the plate. While Pagès does not manufacture or finish the movement himself, the components are produced by specialized Swiss workshops following his specifications.
Strap and Availability
The watch comes fitted with a handmade Italian calfskin strap in mocha brown with contrasting white stitching, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle.
