Grand Seiko continues to build on its acclaimed Evolution 9 collection with two new models that reflect the brand’s dual commitment to technical innovation and nature-inspired design. The first is a bold, luxurious chronograph that blends titanium with rose gold, while the second is a refined and compact time-only watch with a dial inspired by moonlit birch forests. Both models highlight Grand Seiko’s mastery of finishing and mechanical precision.

Grand Seiko “Sunrise” Tentagraph SLGC006

Grand Seiko adds a striking new variant to its Tentagraph chronograph lineup with the “Sunrise” SLGC006. This model combines the lightness of high-intensity titanium with the warmth of 18K rose gold, offering a distinctive and luxurious take on the brand’s first mechanical chronograph. The 43.20 mm case is paired with a 51.50 mm lug-to-lug length and measures 15.30 mm thick, ensuring a bold presence on the wrist while maintaining comfort thanks to the titanium construction. A rose gold bezel frames the watch, fitted with a black ceramic insert engraved with a white tachymeter scale, while the rose gold crown and pushers add to the watch’s warm tone.

The dial is where the SLGC006 truly stands out. Inspired by the soft morning sunlight on the slopes of Mt. Iwate, it displays a rich copper-pink tone with a sunray-textured surface that echoes the mountain’s rugged ridges. Burgundy chronograph counters and a copper-toned small seconds register create a sense of depth, while rose gold-plated hands, applied indexes, and a date frame tie the design together. For everyday practicality, the hour and minute hands and indexes are treated with luminous material for visibility in low light. The case is complemented by a 22 mm titanium bracelet that features a folding clasp with a rose gold medallion, reinforcing the watch’s luxurious character.

Powering the “Sunrise” Tentagraph is the high-frequency 9SC5 automatic chronograph caliber, which operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour and delivers a 72-hour power reserve. This movement incorporates Grand Seiko’s advanced Dual Impulse Escapement and a free-sprung balance, contributing to its precision rating of +5 to –3 seconds per day, which comfortably surpasses COSC chronometer standards. Limited to just 300 pieces, the SLGC006 will be available from October 2025 at an expected price of around € 23,000.

Grand Seiko “Moonlit Birch” SLGW007

Alongside the Tentagraph, Grand Seiko also unveils the new “Moonlit Birch” SLGW007, a refined and more compact addition to the Evolution 9 collection. This model reinterprets the popular Birch texture with a darker and moodier tone, pairing it with a 38.60 mm stainless steel case that is just 9.95 mm thick and stretches 45 mm from lug to lug. The case’s combination of Zaratsu-polished and brushed surfaces creates a dynamic play of light, highlighting Grand Seiko’s renowned finishing expertise.

The dark grayish-blue dial showcases the familiar birch-like texture seen on earlier models but transforms it into something more serene and atmospheric—evoking the look of birch bark bathed in moonlight. The dial is set with sharply faceted, applied hour markers and a polished handset, delivering crisp legibility and a sense of refined craftsmanship. A dark blue leather strap completes the design, perfectly matching the dial’s tone while adding a classic touch.

Inside, the SLGW007 houses the manual-winding 9SA4 Hi-Beat movement, derived from the automatic 9SA5 caliber. Beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, it uses a twin-barrel construction to offer an impressive 80-hour power reserve. The movement also features Grand Seiko’s Dual Impulse Escapement and reveals a power reserve indicator on the back, visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement’s intricate finishing underscores the high level of handcraftsmanship that defines the brand. Unlike the Tentagraph, this model is part of the regular production lineup and will be available from October 2025 at an expected price of € 10,200.
