Patek Philippe Shrinks The Cubitus: Meet The 7128 In 40MM
The Cubitus line from Patek Philippe welcomes a refined 40mm edition in solid precious metals, continuing the evolution of a design language that blends geometric modernity with understated luxury. First seen in larger 45mm formats, the Cubitus now enters a new phase with the reference 7128, available in white gold (7128/1G) and rose gold (7128/1R).
This new model adopts the same distinctive square-style silhouette that defines the collection, but is now scaled for more versatile wearability. Measuring 40mm across (from 10 to 4 o’clock) and 8.5mm in thickness, the case construction retains its two-part design with softened edges and sculptural side contours. A mix of satin-brushed and polished surfaces adds contrast and sophistication, while the screw-down crown is discreetly integrated into the profile. Water resistance remains at 30 meters.
The reference 7128 introduces two new dial colors to the Cubitus line: a blue-grey hue paired with the white gold case, and a rich brown tone matched to rose gold. Both dials feature the hallmark sunburst finish and embossed horizontal striations. Hour markers and hands follow the baton style, crafted in gold to match the case metal and treated with luminescent coating for readability in low light. A date window is positioned at 3 o’clock, with black numerals on a white background.
Inside, the watch is powered by the self-winding Caliber 26-330 S C, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. This movement includes a 21k gold central rotor, a Gyromax balance, and a Spiromax hairspring. It runs at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and offers a maximum power reserve of 45 hours.
The integrated gold bracelet features vertically brushed outer links and polished center links, finished with chamfered polished edges. Designed for comfort, it includes a concealed fold-over clasp with four independent catches and a practical comfort extension. While the bracelet is fixed, there is no interchangeable strap system included.
The Patek Philippe Cubitus 7128 is offered at a retail price of €76,000 in both white and rose gold versions.
Our Opinion
While still sizable, the two new Cubitus 7128 references feel more refined and better proportioned compared to the larger 45mm models introduced last year. The clean time-and-date layout, devoid of complications, contributes to a more harmonious and universally appealing silhouette. However, despite the improvements in scale and simplicity, we continue to question how well this contemporary design aligns with Patek Philippe’s classical DNA and traditional design codes.
