Frederique Constant Unveils The New Classics Moneta Solarmetre
Frederique Constant expands its elegant Moneta collection with the launch of the new Classics Moneta Solarmetre, a refined dress watch that introduces the brand’s first solar-powered movement. Combining minimalist styling with modern photovoltaic technology, the latest addition to the collection brings together practicality and classic Swiss watchmaking design.

Originally introduced in 2024, the Moneta line quickly became recognizable thanks to its slim profile, clean dial layouts, and signature coin-edge bezel. The new Solarmetre retains those characteristics while adding a movement designed to offer long-term convenience through light-powered autonomy.
Frederique Constant’s First Solar Movement
At the heart of the new watch is the FC-120 solar-powered quartz caliber, developed in partnership with La Joux-Perret. The movement uses photovoltaic technology to transform light into electrical energy through cells positioned beneath the dial. This energy is then stored to power the quartz regulator.

According to Frederique Constant, just one minute of light exposure generates enough energy to keep the watch running for an entire day. When fully charged, the movement can operate autonomously for up to 10 months in complete darkness, offering the practicality and low-maintenance benefits typically associated with solar-powered watches.
The introduction of the FC-120 marks an important step for the Geneva-based manufacture as it enters the growing segment of elegant solar-powered timepieces.
Larger Case With Signature Moneta Details
To accommodate the new movement, Frederique Constant has slightly increased the dimensions of the case. The Classics Moneta Solarmetre now comes in a stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and 8.52 mm thick, making it larger than previous Moneta models while still maintaining the proportions expected from a modern dress watch.

The polished case preserves the collection’s defining feature: the coin-edge bezel decoration that gives the Moneta its distinctive identity. The slim profile and balanced proportions allow the watch to maintain an elegant wrist presence despite the updated dimensions.
Three Translucent Dial Variants
The new Classics Moneta Solarmetre is available in three dial colors: ice blue, burgundy, and cloud white. Although they appear solid, the dials are actually translucent, allowing light to pass through to the photovoltaic cells positioned underneath.

Frederique Constant also introduces a new grained dial texture to the Moneta collection, adding additional depth and visual character to the minimalist design. The textured surfaces interact beautifully with light while preserving the understated elegance that defines the watch.
Each dial is completed with polished dauphine hands, faceted applied hour markers, and a discreet date window positioned at 3 o’clock, ensuring both refinement and legibility.
Delivered With Two Strap Options
Frederique Constant equips the Classics Moneta Solarmetre with two interchangeable wearing options. Each watch is delivered with both a classic leather strap and a Milanese-style stainless steel bracelet, allowing owners to alternate between a more traditional or contemporary appearance depending on the occasion.

The new Frederique Constant Classics Moneta Solarmetre is priced at € 1,250 regardless of dial color selection.
