Bremont has just presented its latest noveltie, the MBIII pilot’s watch, now in a stealthy all-black version. 

It was back in 2009 that the British watch brand presented the MBI for the first time, a robust pilot’s watch with two crowns and basic time and date functions, which later met its successor MBII in a format very similar to the original and it was in 2015 that the third generation of the watch appeared, the MBIII, which added a second time zone to its previous functions, but dropped the day of the week indication. 

The new Bremont MBIII, dressed in full black, comes in the usual round stainless steel case that comes now with a DLC coated finish, featuring dimensions of 43mm in diameter, 15.50mm in thickness and 50mm lug-to-lug distance, domed sapphire crystal, the two knurled crowns match the profile of the case and are positioned at 2 and 4 o’clock, allowing the first to handle the internal 24-hour bezel that replaces the previous 60-minute diving scale and the second the setting the time and date. 

The dial like the case also wears code black featuring white Arabic numerals and blackneed sword hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, a center seconds hand with a red tip and a round wire counterweight with black and yellow stripes in the style of ‘Ejection Seat Pull’, a date window at 3 o’clock and the extra hand GMT with an arrow- shape tip outlined in white. 

The watch comes equipped with the BE-93-2AV automatic movement based on the ETA 2892-A2, which offers up to 50 hours of power reserve and which can be observed through the smoked glass of the rear case, fixed with six screws, highlighting its bidirectional rotor inscribed with the brand name in red. 

The stealthy MBIII is offered with a black Chalgrove rubber and leather strap, with a DLC pin buckle. 

It is a limited edition of just 50 pieces and can be purchased at the brand’s online store for a price of €5,700.

Bremont announces the arrival of the second generation of the Supermarine S302, which now appears in three new variants, one of which is a limited edition.

The new Supermarine S302, which on the outside and inside is almost the same as the first generation, brings some new features, among the most obvious is the new 24-hour bezel that now allows the watch to offer three different time zones (one more than the previous generation) and a 60-minute inner rehaut that allows users to continue enjoying all the features of a diving watch, taking advantage of the same 300m of water resistance as before.

On the outside, the stainless steel case maintains its three-piece construction and dimensions of 40mm in diameter, 13mm in thickness and 49mm in lug-to-lug distance. Front sapphire crystal, unidirectional bezel, stepped screw-down crown, screwed case back engraved with a hydroplane and 300m water resistance.

The dial has the same clean layout, with printed hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, a lollipop centre seconds hand, a date window right next to the crown and the extra central GMT hand with an arrow-shaped tip and orange outline.

As for the different variants, there are two regular versions, one that features a blue dial and a bi-colour aluminium insert bezel in green and blue, and the S302 Jet version that comes with a black DLC coated case, a black ceramic insert bezel and a matching dial with beige lume. Finally, the 400-piece edition was made in collaboration with Ocean Ramsey, a marine biologist and professional free-diver who is also the brand’s ambassador, with part of the proceeds going towards the “Save The Turtles International” program. This exclusive edition features a grey dial and bezel to which luminescent material in a beige tone similar to that of the Jet edition has been added.

Inside, the new second-generation Supermarine S302 comes equipped with the modified ETA2893 automatic movement that is chronometer-certified, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 50 hours of power reserve.

The blue regular edition and limited edition are offered with three different strap options, including a rubber strap, leather strap or steel bracelet. In contrast, the Jet version only offers rubber or leather strap options. Prices range from €3,900 for the regular blue version on the strap option, which is the cheapest option, and €4,600 for the limited edition with a steel bracelet, the most expensive option.

Let’s go for a new Pitch Watch

Bremont has just launched the S300 RFU, a limited edition of 150 units in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) that aims to celebrate its 150th anniversary.

This special edition is very similar to the base version S300, although with some nuances. On the outside, the only visible change is in the bezel, which, although it maintains the previous characteristics such as the blue ceramic insert, with the minute scale painted in white and the red inverted triangle marking 12 o’clock, it is no longer marked with the first 20 individual minutes, instead, now marking the individual minutes between 35 and 45 with the first five painted in red, in a clear allusion to the Rugby half-time (40 minutes).

Also, the case back is no longer engraved with the traditional plane, to give place to the Ruby England logo with the inscription around “England Rugby – Twickenham”.

It is in the dial that the biggest differences are concentrated, preserving the white background, but no longer showing a textured guilloche centre to give way to an inlaid Rose, the symbol of the British team, in the style of the old watermarks that were seen on the papers. The previous indices and Arabic numerals painted in blue, now give way to silver applied marks filled with lume and the lollipop second hand is now completely dressed in red and not just in the previous tip. Finally, on the dial, the inscription of the brand logo remains at 12 o’clock followed now by the inscription “Chronometer” all in black and dropping the inscriptions “Supermarine” followed by “300m – 980ft” in red and black at 6 o’clock which now, as already mentioned, is occupied by the inlaid rose.

Internally, everything is the same, powered by the BE-92AE automatic movement that operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch is offered with a steel bracelet at a price of €4,135.

If you are a fan of pilots’ watches and have fallen in love with the IWC Mojave line, but like many struggles with the high dimensions and prices of its models, then we have good news, Bremont has just unveiled its latest model in its line MB (Martin-Baker), the MB Savanna.

If you are not familiar with the MB watch line of the British brand Bremont, it emerged in 2007/8 from a partnership with Martin-Baker, which has been developing ejector seats and other safety equipment for aviation for nearly a century, and today it is the leading supplier of ejector seats for military aviation worldwide.

From this partnership was born the Bremont MB, a pilot’s watch, which not only boasts an eye-catching design and aviation watch category but was designed to operate and withstand the extreme conditions that military aviation pilots operate on a daily basis, hence all its models are subjected to a wide and demanding battery of tests, namely Life Ejection Test, Extreme Temperature Endurance, Vibration Test, among many others.

The new Bremont Savanna comes in a 43mm Grade 5 Titanium case, with the usual Trip-Tick case construction consisting of three parts, an upper case, a middle barrel case, and a case back. The upper case and the open-through case back in titanium come in sand color with matt finished, while the middle barrel case comes in knurled aluminum. The watch comes with the usual two crowns from the MB line, at 2 o’clock the main crown is signed with the brand logo that controls the time and date function and at 4 o’clock the second crown controls the internal bi-directional bezel, both crowns are knurled matching with barrel case.

The anthracite-colored dial comes with an internal bezel and date opening at 3 o’clock in the same shades, the usual seconds hand with a red lollipop tip and loop counterbalance in yellow recreating the handle for ejection seat of the fighter aircrafts.

Inside it operates the modified Caliber BE-36AE, which is based on the ETA 2836-2, with 38 hours power reserve, high impact resistance, and a chronometer-certified by ISO 3159.

The MB Savanna is offered with a sand-colored rubber strap for a price of €5,285.

Our Opinion

The growing market offer of military watches in sand tones seems to have gained its space in the market and that is why it is a trend that comes to stay, so it is not surprising that in the near future new offers from other brands will appear. Bremont’s new “Mojave” for now seems to be the most affordable offer not only in terms of dimensions, 43 mm against the 44.5 mm of the smaller Mojave model (IW389103) but also in price, €5,250 for Bremont against $8,200 for the more affordable Mojave model (IW389103) and if you can still find any available unit of the 500 pieces produced. However, we must not forget the differences in this comparison, bearing in mind that the IWC Mojave Desert line comes with a ceramic case, an In-House movement and the IWC is a brand with over 150 years of history.
