Angelus has just unveiled its latest timepiece, the Chronograph Télémètre, a vintage-inspired monopusher chronograph that stands out as one of the most anticipated releases at Watches and Wonders this year. With over a century of history, Angelus has been renowned for crafting some of the most captivating chronographs, making them highly sought after by collectors. After a shift towards contemporary designs in 2015 that did not resonate well, the brand recalibrated in 2023, returning to its heritage-driven roots with the launch of the La Fabrique collection. This strategic move has led to the release of the stunning Chronograph Télémètre, reaffirming Angelus’ commitment to traditional watchmaking excellence.
The new Angelus Chronograph Télémètre comes in a refined 37mm case, available in stainless steel or 18k yellow gold. With a thickness of just 9.25mm, the watch boasts a brushed finish on its surfaces and a polished finish on the bevels, enhancing its vintage aesthetic. A box sapphire crystal, thin bezel, sweeping lugs, and a monopusher crown at 3 o’clock contribute to the watch’s balanced proportions, while the screwed open case back allows a view of the intricate movement within. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.
The dial is elegantly domed and available in three striking color variants: off-white for the gold edition, gray with gilt accents, and salmon bronze with dark gray details for the steel editions. The Bi-compax layout features two recessed snailing counters, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and running seconds at 9 o’clock. The grained central portion of the dial hosts baton hour markers, Arabic numerals at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions, and syringe hands filled with Super-LumiNova. A centrally positioned chronograph seconds hand, a printed minute/second track on the periphery, and a brushed outer ring with a Kilometre scale complete the dial’s functional elegance.
Inside, the Chronograph Télémètre is powered by the in-house Caliber A5000, developed by La Joux-Perret. This column-wheel chronograph movement features a horizontal clutch and measures just 4.40mm in height. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it comprises 23 jewels and offers a power reserve of up to 42 hours. The movement is beautifully decorated in two tones, with gold finishes on the bridges and mainplate and palladium treatment on the chronograph components.
Completing the aesthetic, the Chronograph Télémètre is paired with a calfskin leather strap in shades of blue, gray, or sage, secured with a pin buckle matching the case material. Limited to 15 units in gold and 25 units in each steel variant, this exquisite timepiece is priced at CHF 32,300 for the gold edition and CHF 17,900 for the steel editions.
