British watch brand Vertex is celebrating British Watchmakers Day with a new limited edition of its M60 diving watch, the Taormina. Inspired by the clear Mediterranean waters of Taormina, a picturesque region in Sicily, this exclusive timepiece is limited to just 50 units and is available exclusively through the brand’s website for €3,579.54.
Crafted with military-inspired precision, the new Vertex M60 Taormina retains the robust specifications of its predecessors. Its 40mm stainless steel case, measuring 14mm in thickness and 49mm in length, features a primarily brushed finish. A sapphire crystal protects the vivid blue dial, while the 60-minute unidirectional bezel boasts a bright blue ceramic insert filled with luminescent material. The knurled depressions and ridges on the bezel provide enhanced grip, complementing the overall functional design. A signed crown at 3 o’clock and a screwed solid case back engraved with the Aqualion ensure the impressive 600m water resistance that defines the M60 collection.
The striking blue dial follows the layout of the standard M60 models but omits the date window for a cleaner, more symmetrical look. It features illuminated block baton hour markers, Arabic numerals at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions, and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova Grade X1, which emits a turquoise glow in the dark. A white minute/second track runs along the outer edge, aligning with the brand’s inscriptions at noon and chronometer certification at 6 o’clock, while the depth rating of “2000FT/600M” appear in red .
At its core, the Vertex M60 Taormina is powered by the Sellita Caliber SW360-1, an upgrade from the SW300-1 found in previous models. This movement, also chronometer-certified, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers an extended power reserve of 56 hours, improving upon the previous 42-hour reserve.
Designed for versatility, the watch comes fitted with a three-link stainless steel bracelet featuring a folding clasp with a diving extension and quick-release spring bars. Additionally, each timepiece includes a black rubber strap with a steel pin buckle and a navy blue single-strand Zulu strap. The set is presented in the brand’s signature multi-purpose Peli “Ruck” case, ensuring durability and protection.
