Venezianico Nereide Opale Blu: A Limited Edition Diver With a Striking Blue Opal Dial
Italian watchmaker Venezianico continues to explore unconventional materials with the launch of the new Nereide Opale Blu, a limited-edition diver distinguished by an eye-catching dial crafted from lab-grown blue opal. Produced in only 600 pieces, the watch builds on the previous Nereide Opale while introducing a new interpretation of the material through an intense blue colourway.

A Dial Made From Blue Opal
The defining feature of the Nereide Opale Blu is its dial, developed using synthetic opal produced by Japanese specialist Kyocera.
The material is initially created as a solid block before being sliced into sections measuring approximately 0.4mm thick for use in the watch. Because of the crystalline structure of the opal, each dial displays its own pattern and variations, meaning no two watches are visually identical.

Importantly, the blue colour isn’t applied to the surface. The opal itself is grown with its distinctive blue coloration, producing an intense and highly saturated appearance.
Depending on the angle of the light, the dial can reveal different shades ranging from deep blue to turquoise and teal. This creates considerable visual depth and gives the dial a dynamic appearance on the wrist.
A Robust 200-Metre Case
The Nereide Opale Blu retains the established Nereide case design, measuring 42 mm in diameter and 12.50 mm thick.

Constructed from stainless steel, the case provides 200 metres of water resistance, reinforcing the watch’s credentials as a capable sports and diving model. The bezel features a tungsten insert, selected for its high resistance to scratching and wear.
The combination of broad surfaces, pronounced lugs and contrasting polished details gives the watch a strong tool-watch character, while the five-link stainless steel bracelet adds a more refined element to the overall design.
Powered by the Sellita SW200-1
Inside the case is the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, a widely used Swiss calibre known for its practicality and ease of servicing.

The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 38 hours of power reserve. It can also be admired through the exhibition caseback, where Venezianico has fitted a custom rhodium-plated rotor.
Limited to 600 Pieces
The Venezianico Nereide Opale Blu is limited to just 600 examples and is priced at € 1,350.
Sales begin on August 25, with pre-registration available ahead of the launch.
