Singapore has been an important maritime crossroads for centuries, and Vario draws on that history for its latest collection. The NAVI Voyage Chapter One: Europe combines nautical inspiration with references to five European nations that share historic trading connections with Singapore: England, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

Rather than simply changing the colours between models, Vario gives each version its own national identity through the dial, language and colour palette.

Five Nations, Five Dials

The collection comprises five country-specific editions, with each dial incorporating the colours of its respective national flag. The 12-hour scale takes the concept further, with the hours written in the native language of each country.

This combination makes the dial both functional and decorative, while reinforcing the international character of the NAVI Voyage concept.

A Different Approach to Timekeeping

The most distinctive feature of the NAVI Voyage is the absence of a traditional minute hand. Instead, the dial is built around a central hour hand and a separate running-seconds indicator.

To compensate for the lack of a minute hand, Vario divides each hour into four 15-minute zones on an inner scale. This allows the wearer to estimate the time with reasonable precision while maintaining the watch’s deliberately slower, navigation-inspired character.

The seconds display is particularly appropriate to the nautical theme. Its hand takes the form of a compass needle, visually connecting the timepiece with navigation instruments.

The dial itself features a matte wave pattern, adding texture without compromising the legibility of the hour display.

Compact Steel Case

The NAVI Voyage measures 38 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick, giving it contemporary proportions that should suit a wide range of wrists.

Its stainless-steel case combines practical durability with several more refined details. A coin-edge bezel introduces additional texture, while the lugs alternate between brushed and polished surfaces. The result is a case that sits between traditionally elegant and more utilitarian watchmaking.

With 100 metres of water resistance, the NAVI Voyage is also designed for everyday use rather than being restricted to formal occasions.

Miyota Automatic Movement

Inside the case is the Miyota 82S5, an automatic mechanical movement offering approximately 40 hours of power reserve.

The movement is hidden behind a solid stainless-steel caseback, which continues the navigational theme with an engraved compass rose. The decoration provides a direct visual link to the maritime inspiration behind the collection.

Chapter One: Europe

The European collection is limited to 600 pieces in total, distributed according to the five national editions.

The England edition is the largest, with 240 watches, while Germany and France are limited to 100 pieces each. Spain and Italy are each restricted to 80 watches.

Vario also sees the NAVI Voyage as a broader project rather than a single collection. The “Chapter One” designation points towards future releases inspired by other major maritime regions, with Asia-Pacific and the Americas already part of the planned roadmap.

Pricing and Availability

The Vario NAVI Voyage Chapter One: Europe is priced at USD 428, with each national edition individually limited.

By combining country-specific colours and languages with an unusual time display, compass-inspired details and a compact automatic case, Vario gives the NAVI Voyage a distinctive identity. It is a watch built around the idea of maritime travel, but expressed through a contemporary and highly international design language.
