Vacheron Constantin Presents Les Cabinotiers ‘Récits De Voyage’
Les Cabinotiers is Vacheron Constantin’s most exclusive line, a bespoke collection within the reach of very few, which, in addition to offering various complications, presents extraordinary manual work by the brand’s artisans that extends from the case to the dial, passing through the movement making them true masterpieces.
In addition to unique pieces made to measure for each of its most exclusive clients, Vacheron Constantin also periodically develops collections of pieces inspired by different themes, and it is in this context that it now presents the new ‘Récits De Voyage’ line made up of nine unique timepieces.
Grisaille High Jewellery
This watch invokes the Swiss watch brand’s links with China, which is reflected in its green dial with a grisaille (greyish) enamel dragon.
Its 40mm white gold case is hand-set with baguette-cut diamonds, which inside houses the ultra-thin Caliber 1120 automatic movement.
Minute Repeater Tourbillon
Consists of two watches, one in white gold that comes with engravings of arabesques inspired by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and another in yellow gold in the Art Deco style that celebrates its connections to the United States where they have been present since 1832 and whose dial results in a combination of champlevé enamelling and wood marquetry and each of which required around three months of work.
The two watches are housed in a robust case measuring 44mm in diameter and 13.50mm thick, which are powered by the In-house Caliber 2755 TMR manual movement which, in addition to the two centre hands, comes with a tourbillon at 6 o’clock.
Memorable Places
The four watches that compose it celebrate special places for the brand throughout its history, one of them in white gold that references its previous home until 1875 – ‘La Tour De L’Île’ and the other three in 5N rose gold representing ‘Angkor Thom’ from Beijing’s old summer palace, the entrance to the ‘Confucius Temple’ and the ‘Imperial College Museum’.
These four timepieces come in 40mm by 9.10mm cases, driven by the ultra-thin in-house automatic movement that comes with two centre hands. Each dial required more than 200 hours of work between engraving and damask gold plates, and micro sculpture engraving.
Malte Tourbillon
This unique piece celebrates the works of Georges Eugène Haussmann and the watchmaker’s agency in Paris since the 19th century, showcasing impressive engraving work on the case and bridges of the skeletonized dial.
The 38mm by 48.30mm case in 5N rose gold is powered by the Caliber 2790 SQ manual movement, which, in addition to the two centre hands, is accompanied by a pointer dial at 2 o’clock and a tourbillon at 6 o’clock.
Armillary Tourbillon
Inspired by the Art Deco period, this watch celebrates the brand’s connections with the Americas as a whole.
On its black open dial, in addition to the engravings on the black bridges and various gilt accents, we can see an ingenious biaxial tourbillon at 9 o’clock and a retrograde hour and minute display that extends from 12 to 6 o’clock.
The watch is housed in a 2N yellow gold case measuring 45mm in diameter and 20.10mm thick and inside driven by the Caliber 1990 manual movement.
The engraving work on the dial and case took more than a month of work by the brand’s craftsmen.
