Italian independent watch brand Unimatic expands its Modello Cinque collection with the introduction of Unilight, a newly developed illumination technology designed to enhance legibility in low-light conditions. The Modello Cinque Unilight models retain the brand’s core design language—clean, functional, and purpose-built—while introducing a new approach to luminous dial construction.

Unilight illumination technology

Unilight is Unimatic’s proprietary three-dimensional lume solution. Instead of traditional luminescent paint applied within printed or metal-bordered indices, Unilight consists of solid, sculpted luminous hour markers that rise directly from the dial surface. These markers are produced using green-emission Super-LumiNova C1 and are applied by hand, emphasizing precision and consistency in execution.

The absence of frame surrounds allows the luminous material to occupy the full volume of each index. As a result, light emission is not limited to the top surface alone but extends to the sides of the markers as well. This construction increases the overall luminous mass and produces a uniform glow, improving nighttime readability while also creating a strong visual presence during daylight hours. In normal lighting, the stark white indices contrast sharply against the matte black dial, contributing to depth and clarity.
