Casio Duro has New Colours
Today let’s just take a quick look at the launch of one of Casio’s favourite analogue watches, better known as Casio Duro or Casio Marlin, we are talking about the Casio MDV 106.
After almost 10 years since the launch of the Casio MDV-106-1AV, the brand is now launching two new variants of this iconic model, the Casio MDV-106B-2AV and the Casio MDV-106G-1AV.
Before we talk about these two new variants, let’s do a little review of the characteristics of this model. The Casio Duro is equipped with a quartz movement (module 2784), has a 44.00mm stainless steel case, 48.00mm lug to lug, 12.00mm thickness and 92gr weight, with a stainless steel case back and a resin bracelet. This watch has a water resistance of 20 Bar or 200 meters, a unidirectional bezel with 120 clicks, a crown at the 3 o’clock position with crown guards, a date window at 3 o’clock, crystal mineral glass and a battery of approximately 3 years.
Now let’s jump right into the headlines of these two new models, aesthetically the watches are the same, the differences are in the dial and bezel, with a new colour scheme. The Casio MDV-106B-2AV features a blue dial and bezel with silver hands and a second hand that no longer has the red tail. While the Casio MDV-106G-1AV comes with the same black dial and bezel as the original Casio Duro, but with gilt details and also gilt hands that give it a retro look. The prices of these two new models do not change significantly compared to the old version that remains on the market for around $ 70, so they will cost respectively $ 75 and $ 80.
What can we say more about these two variants, they will delight many Casio Duro fans, probably Casio could have gone further with more variants and at least a short variant around 39 / 40mm as it happened with Seiko’s brother SKX, for small wrists, but we must not forget that we are talking about a watch under $ 100 and there was probably no room for it.
Summarize, Casio Duro now offers three variants of this incredible watch, with a classic look, impressive attention to detail, with 200 meters of water resistance and probably the best Quartz dive watch in the market at such low price.
