Tudor Unveils The New Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue
Tudor continues to expand its Black Bay collection with the launch of the Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue, a summer-ready evolution of its smallest diver. While the core architecture remains true to last year’s BB54, this new edition introduces bold aesthetic changes that signal a broader shift in the brand’s design language.

Compact Dimensions, Same Robust Performance
Housed in a 37 mm stainless steel case that’s just 11.24 mm thick, the BB54 Lagoon Blue carries the same proportions and specifications that made the original a favorite among those seeking vintage cues in a modern package. With a lug-to-lug measurement of 46mm, the watch offers excellent ergonomics for a wide range of wrist sizes.

It’s still very much a capable dive watch, with 200 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown, a domed sapphire crystal, and a solid screw-down caseback. Inside ticks the MT5400 calibre, a COSC-certified automatic movement developed in collaboration with Kenissi. It offers a 70-hour power reserve, a silicon hairspring, and a free-sprung balance regulated to Tudor’s enhanced precision standards of -2/+4 seconds per day.
A Vibrant New Identity
Where this model truly stands apart is in its visual execution. The dial features a new Lagoon Blue tone with a fine-grain sand-like texture, evoking both a summer seascape and a more elevated, dressier character.

Another major change is the mirror-polished steel bezel insert, replacing the traditional aluminum used in past models. The tone-on-tone engraved 60-minute scale adds depth and sheen but leans more toward elegance than utility—a deliberate move that reshapes the BB54’s personality.
Polished Snowflake hands and applied indices filled with white Super-LumiNova ensure legibility, while the dark blue printed minute track frames the dial in subtle contrast.
Bracelet Evolution
The Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue comes on a 5-link stainless steel bracelet, following the path taken in recent years by the entire Black Bay line.. Replacing the former 3-link, rivet-style bracelet, this Jubilee-style option features brushed outer links and polished center elements for a refined, retro-infused feel. It is secured with Tudor’s excellent T-Fit clasp, offering tool-free micro-adjustments for enhanced comfort.

As of now, no rubber strap option is offered for this reference.
Price & Availability
The Tudor Black Bay 54 Lagoon Blue is available now through official Tudor retailers and boutiques, priced at € 4,340. It is not a limited edition, but like other models in the more expressive sub-collections, it may be challenging to find depending on demand.

Our Take
As we’ve seen across the Black Bay lineup in recent years, Tudor is gradually shifting from tool-watch minimalism to a more refined and style-conscious approach. The latest change to the bracelet architecture—from the utilitarian 3-link design to the more ornate 5-link—first appeared on the Black Bay 58 Burgundy, and now makes its way to the Black Bay 54.
While this change brings added visual variety and elegance, it also raises a question for longtime fans: is the Black Bay slowly moving away from its origins as a rugged, purpose-built diver? The addition of a polished steel bezel and textured pastel dial certainly enhances the BB54’s visual appeal, but it does so at the expense of the tool-watch DNA that defined the earlier Black Bay 36, 58, and the original 54.
We appreciate the effort to evolve the collection and cater to broader tastes—this Lagoon Blue version is undeniably attractive—but there’s also a lingering sense that the raw simplicity that once anchored the Black Bay family may soon be lost. It’s a balancing act between refinement and authenticity, and we hope Tudor remains mindful of the latter as it moves forward.
