Tissot PRC 100 Solar: The Iconic Collection Revived With Solar Technology
The Tissot PRC 100 Solar has just arrived, marking the return of a collection first introduced in 2000, featuring the distinctive dodecagonal bezel. This new solar-powered timepiece currently comes in a 39mm stainless steel case with five different variants, with Tissot already confirming that by the end of the year, a 34mm version will be available in four additional options, including a striking two-tone rose gold edition and a full yellow gold PVD model.
Equipped with Lightmaster Solar Quartz technology, the Tissot PRC 100 Solar harnesses energy from natural and artificial light through hidden honeycomb-structured solar cells beneath the dial. According to the brand, just 10 minutes of exposure to light provides 24 hours of battery power, while a full charge delivers an impressive 14-month autonomy.
The watch is encased in a 39mm stainless steel construction with a combination of brushed surfaces and polished bevels. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the fluted crown at 3 o’clock bears the brand’s signature. The timepiece also boasts a solid case back and an impressive 100 meters of water resistance, making it a reliable choice for everyday wear.
The dial is available in blue, silver, or black, with the latter housed in a black PVD-coated case for a sleek, stealthy look. Each variant showcases a sunray brushed finish, applied indexes, and hands filled with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in low-light conditions. A date window sits conveniently next to the crown, while a minute track rehaut enhances precision. The Tissot logo is prominently displayed at 12 o’clock, followed by the PRC 100 collection name at 6 o’clock.
Powering this latest model is the Caliber F06.615, a quartz movement that eliminates the need for battery replacements, running efficiently on any light source. The new PRC 100 Solar is offered with multiple strap options. The silver and black dial versions can be paired with either a leather strap featuring a steel pin buckle or a stainless steel bracelet with H-shaped links and a butterfly clasp. The blue dial variant, for now, is exclusively available with a stainless steel bracelet. Pricing starts at €445 for the steel version with a leather strap, while the black PVD-coated model with a bracelet is priced at €545.
With the promise of a 34mm version set to debut by the end of 2025, featuring elegant two-tone and full gold PVD options, the Tissot PRC 100 Solar continues to blend innovation with timeless design, offering a versatile and sustainable choice for watch enthusiasts.
