Tissot Joins Green Watch Trend With New PRX Additions
This year seems to be the green year, even less than two days ago here, in Portugal, we celebrated the victory of the Sporting Clube de Portugal championship in a green wave that had been developing for a long time, culminating in a night of celebrations in green tones that spread from the north to the south of the country, islands and beyond borders, the same seems to be happening with watches, renewing the avalanche of green dials launches from a couple of years ago.
Tissot appears to be the latest watchmaking brand to join the trend, with two, or rather three, green releases in the desired PRX collection.
The first two additions were long awaited by fans and many call the most beautiful colour in the collection, we are talking about mint green which has been part of the PRX Quartz ranks for some time and which now arrives in the Powermatic 80 version, either in the standard size of 40mm as in the reduced size of 35mm, and finally, a new PRX chrono that comes with a beautiful gradient green dial.
After the introductions, there is little more to add as the watches follow the same configuration as their peers, presenting on the outside the traditional stainless steel case with an integrated bracelet, which comes with a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on the bezel, crown and bevels. Sapphire crystal, fluted crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s signature “T”, which in the chrono version is flanked by two rectangular pushers, open case back and 100m water resistance.
On the dial, the same Tapisserie pattern with applied hour markers and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, a framed date window at 3 o’clock in the Powermatic 80 version and 4:30 in the chrono one, the chrono version also adds three registers with a 30-minutes, a 12-hour and a running seconds at 3-6-9 o’clock allocated to the chronograph function.
Inside, everything is the same, with the Powermatic 80 version coming with reliable automatic movement owned by the Swatch Group, which operates at 21,600 Vph and offers a comfortable 80h of power reserve. The Chrono version comes again with the ETA A05.H31 automatic movement that reaches 28,800 Vph and offers 60 hours of power reserve.
The watches that arrived silently are now available in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers with prices similar to the rest of the collection, with the new Powermatic 80 arriving at €775 and the new green Chrono at €2,045.
