Tissot Expands PRX Collection With Gradient Dials And Forged Carbon Model
It was in 2021 that Tissot relaunched its PRX model inspired by sport-chic watches with an integrated bracelet from the 70s, which quickly became a sales phenomenon.
Until today, the collection has been growing with quartz and automatic mechanical movements, two sizes 40 and 35 mm, different colours on the dial, time-date and later chronograph versions and now a new one in forged carbon and two with gradient dials, all of them in the Powermatic 80 40mm version.
Starting with the new stainless steel variants, they once again wear the 40mm diameter, 10.90mm thick and 51mm long case that includes the first fixed links, integrated bracelet that comes with a mainly brushed finish, sapphire crystal, fluted crown with the brand logo, open case back and 100m water resistance.
The ice blue or blue dial now comes with a horizontal gradient effect with the first lightening the tones from bottom to top becoming almost white and the second in the opposite order darkening the tones from bottom to top becoming nearly black. The waffle pattern remains as well as the baton hour markers, three central hands all filled with luminescent material and a framed window next to the crown with a white background.
Once again, we find inside the Powermatic 80 with a NIvachron hairspring, which operates at a frequency of 3 Hz and offers the usual 80 hours of power reserve.
Prices have not changed and follow the rest of the collection with each one costing €775.
The big news or even surprise is the new PRX Powermatc 80 Forged Carbon, which comes with that lightweight material in shades of anthracite black giving the watch a stealthy camouflage effect, which has the same dimensions as the steel versions except for thickness that comes with slightly taller by 0.30mm, sapphire crystal, black coated steel crown and case back, black rubber strap with black steel pin buckle and the same 100m water resistance.
The textured dial follows the pattern of the anthracite-toned case, without the traditional waffle background, and with the same configuration with white accents and a matching date window.
The movement, although the same, is presented in a new variation, the Powermatic 80 Si, which comes with a silicone hairspring that provides greater stability and resistance to magnetic fields, maintaining the same 80 hours of power reserve.
The watch is a little more expensive considering the material used and is priced at CHF 965.
