Tissot Announces the Arrival of the Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 GMT

Let’s go to the first Pitch Watch of 2023 with a very interesting novelty.

Tissot has just announced the arrival of the Seastar 1000 in the GMT version, which for now is limited to the North American market and in limited production.

The good news is that is a very good-looking watch that features an anthracite dial with a vertical brush and a 24-hour bi-colour bezel in black and green.

The less good news is that despite being part of the Seastar 1000 line it comes with the Seastar 2000 line case, which translates into a 46mm diameter case, which will leave many fans frustrated.

The Watch

As already mentioned, it comes in a stainless steel case measuring 46mm in diameter and 15.4mm thick, with a finish that alternates between polished and brushed, a unidirectional bezel with ceramic insert, screw-down crown with the brand’s signature and crown guards, sapphire glass on the front and case back and 300m of water resistance.

The anthracite dial, features a black chapter ring, applied hour markers and faceted pencil hands all filled with luminescent material, a central seconds hand with the traditional “T” shaped counterweight, an additional red GMT hand with an arrow-shape tip, a square date window now at 3 o’clock, and white inscriptions of the brand logo at 12 o’clock and four lines of text at 6 o’clock translated into “Seastar”, “Powermatic 80”, 30 bar (300m / 1000ft) and “GMT”, the latter in red.

Inside and living up to its name, it comes equipped with a reliable Powermatic 80.661 that operates at 21,600 Vph and offers up to 80 hours of power reserve.

The watch comes with an “Oyster” style steel bracelet, with outer links brushed and centre links polished, a folding clasp and a diver extension.

The new Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 GMT is now available for pre-order, for a price of $1,225 and is expected to begin shipping on February 6, 2023.
