Timex’s Atelier Collection Goes Chronograph With The New M1a Ti And M1q

Timex Atelier collection continues to grow with the introduction of two new chronograph models designed by Giorgio Galli: the Atelier Chronograph Automatic M1a Ti and the Atelier Chronograph Quartz M1q. Joining the existing Diver and GMT models, the latest additions bring the collection to six references while introducing the first chronograph complications in the Atelier lineup.

Two Distinct Approaches to the Atelier Chronograph

While sharing a common design language, the new chronographs cater to different audiences through their case construction, movement choices, and pricing.

The Atelier Chronograph Automatic M1a Ti features a 42 mm titanium case paired with a stainless-steel middle case finished in black ion plating. The watch benefits from the lightweight properties of titanium while maintaining a robust overall construction.

The Atelier Chronograph Quartz M1q adopts a slightly smaller 40mm stainless-steel case, also featuring a black IP-coated middle case.

Both models feature hollow lugs and case profile, and are fitted with a fixed tachymeter bezel and protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal enhanced with a triple-layer anti-reflective coating. Buyers can choose between a stainless-steel bracelet or an NBR rubber strap secured by a deployant clasp.

One notable distinction is found on the caseback. The M1a Ti features an exhibition caseback, allowing a view of the mechanical chronograph movement, while the quartz-powered M1q uses a closed caseback.

Monochromatic Chronograph Dials

The new Atelier chronographs maintain the collection’s modern monochromatic design philosophy.

Both watches feature matte black dials complemented by silver-toned chronograph subdials and highly polished silver hands. The two-register chronograph layout marks a first for the Atelier family and contributes to a clean, balanced appearance.

The Quartz M1q adds additional visual complexity through a guilloché-patterned dial surface and includes a date display positioned at 6 o’clock. In contrast, the Automatic M1a Ti opts for a flatter matte dial treatment, emphasizing a more restrained and technical look.

Swiss-Made Movements

Powering the Atelier Chronograph Automatic M1a Ti is the Swiss-made Landeron L72 automatic chronograph movement. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), the movement features 28 jewels and delivers a power reserve of approximately 43 hours. The movement can be admired through the exhibition caseback, highlighting the mechanical nature of the watch.

Meanwhile, the Atelier Chronograph Quartz M1q is equipped with the Swiss-made Ronda 5021D quartz chronograph calibre. The battery-powered movement offers reliable timekeeping and chronograph functionality while contributing to a more accessible price point within the Atelier collection.

Availability and Pricing

The Atelier Chronograph Automatic M1a Ti is offered with either a stainless-steel bracelet or an NBR rubber strap. The bracelet-equipped version is priced at € 2,200, while the rubber strap variant is available for € 2,050.

The Atelier Chronograph Quartz M1q is also available with the same strap options. The stainless-steel bracelet version retails for € 800, while the model fitted with the NBR rubber strap is priced at € 700.

Both new chronographs are available through Timex and selected retailers worldwide.

With the introduction of the M1a Ti and M1q, Timex continues to expand the Atelier collection into more premium territory. The new releases add Swiss-made chronograph movements to the range while preserving the clean, contemporary design language established by Giorgio Galli, further strengthening the Atelier collection as the brand’s most upscale offering.
