Timex and Bespoke Post have joined forces once more to revive a vintage field-watch design rooted in the 1970s Viscount series. This collaboration stays close to the original aesthetic while incorporating several practical updates that make it well-suited for everyday use today. After selling out quickly during its initial release, the watch is now available again through both brands’ online stores.

A Direct Line to the 1970s Viscount Heritage

The Timex x Bespoke Post Field Watch is based on a specific Viscount-era reference known for its cushion-shaped case and straightforward military styling. Timex has preserved the essential design elements, offering a look that closely matches the original without resorting to reinterpretation or modern redesign.

The case maintains the proportions of the vintage model, measuring 36 millimetres across and 11 millimetres thick. It is crafted from polished stainless steel and features the same cushion-shaped silhouette found on the 1970s watch. On top of the case, a high-domed acrylic crystal completes the period-correct presentation while providing clear legibility even when viewed from sharp angles.

Enhanced Legibility With Generous Lume

Although the watch remains true to its 1970s visual identity, Timex has significantly improved its nighttime usability. The dial is treated with a substantial amount of luminous material applied to both the indices and the hands. This results in noticeably brighter and longer-lasting illumination than what would have been possible on the original Viscount models, ensuring dependable readability in low-light conditions.

The black dial itself follows a classic field-watch layout with a crosshair design at its centre. A smaller red 24-hour scale sits inside this main track, providing quick reference for the second half of the day. Along the outer edge, a minute-and-second track uses yellow numerals for precise reading. Completing the display is an orange centre seconds hand that adds a subtle but distinctive burst of colour.

Upgraded Strap for Modern Comfort

Another major improvement comes in the form of a new strap. Instead of the rubber band used on the vintage model, the revival is equipped with a quick-release two-piece strap made from olive drab Cordura. The underside is lined with black leather for increased comfort, and the strap closes securely with a traditional pin buckle. This configuration not only elevates comfort but also enhances durability while keeping the military character intact.

Quartz Movement for Reliability

Inside the case, the watch is powered by a quartz movement. This choice emphasizes reliability, precision, and low maintenance—all qualities that align with the functional nature of a field watch. While the Viscount line in the 1970s included automatic variants, producing a mechanical version of this design at an accessible price point would be difficult today. The quartz calibre helps keep the watch affordable while offering dependable performance.

Branding Details

While the dial carries only the Timex logo, Bespoke Post contributes subtle branding through engravings on both the crown and the stainless steel caseback. These touches distinguish the collaborative model without disturbing the clean, period-correct dial layout.
