Timex Marlin Gets An Upgrade: Meet The New Chronograph And GMT

Timex has expanded its popular Marlin line with two fresh additions that bring both versatility and functionality to the collection: the Marlin Jet Quartz Chronograph and the Marlin GMT. Both models carry the retro-inspired aesthetic that defines the Marlin family while introducing features that continue to make the collection a strong choice for entry-level watch enthusiasts.

Marlin Jet Quartz Chronograph

The Marlin Jet Quartz Chronograph with a Bi-compax layout instead of the previous Tri-compax design is presented in two references, both housed in a 40 mm recycled stainless steel case. The design draws heavily from the 1960s, emphasized by a domed Hesalite crystal and a caseback engraved with the word “Jet.” The first reference, the TW2Y4600, features a silver dial with contrasting black subdials and comes fitted on a six-link stainless steel bracelet. The second, the TW2Y4700, is distinguished by a brown dial with white subdials and is paired with an obsidian leather strap equipped with quick-release spring bars.

The layout of the chronograph is clean and symmetrical, with a 24-hour display positioned at three and a 60-minute counter at nine o’clock and a date window at six o’clock. Operation is managed through pushers located at two and four o’clock, complemented by a knurled crown. Inside the case, a quartz movement ensures reliability, while the watch is rated for water resistance up to 50 meters. Overall, the Marlin Jet Quartz Chronograph builds on the Marlin’s vintage-inspired charm while offering practical functionality at an accessible price point.

Marlin GMT

The second new release is the Marlin GMT, a debut in the collection, which offers dual time zone functionality in the same 40 mm case size as the chronograph. Powering the watch is a quartz movement, and the design has been developed across three references with distinct finishes and strap options. The TW2Y47700 stands out with a gold-tone case and bracelet paired with a black dial, complemented by gold hands and indices for a bold, eye-catching look. The TW2Y47600 takes a more understated approach with a stainless steel case and bracelet matched to a blue dial and silver-tone accents. Meanwhile, the TW2Y47900 also features a blue dial within a stainless steel case but sets itself apart with a blue strap and gold details, including the hands, crown, and markers.

Each Marlin GMT is equipped with a red-tipped GMT hand that circles a 24-hour scale around the dial, making it easy to track a second time zone. A date window is placed at three o’clock, while faceted hour markers add a touch of refinement. The movement is a caller-style GMT, designed to adjust the 24-hour hand independently, which provides a straightforward solution for keeping track of multiple time zones without the higher cost of a “true” GMT complication.

Pricing and Availability

Timex maintains its reputation for accessibility with competitive pricing across the new Marlin models. The Marlin Jet Quartz Chronograph is offered at € 299 for the TW2Y4600 with a bracelet and € 279 for the TW2Y4700 with a leather strap. The Marlin GMT is available in three versions: the TW2Y47700 in gold-tone at € 229, the TW2Y47600 in stainless steel at € 219, and the TW2Y47900 with a blue strap at € 199.
