Three New Editions of Seiko 5 Sports from a Collaboration with Rowing Blazers
Seiko launches today three new watches included in its 5 Sports collection, the result of a collaboration with the clothing brand Rowing Blazers.
Rowing Blazers is an American clothing brand founded by Jack Carlson, which is characterized by authenticity, irreverence, sustainability, among other values. Over the years, the brand has established several partnerships, namely in the world of sport, including a recent partnership with the NBA.
At the origin of this collaboration is Jack Carlson’s admiration for Seiko’s history and also for being a watch enthusiast and curator himself. It is therefore common to frequently find a selection of vintage watches from the most prestigious brands on the Rowing Blazers website for sale.
This collaboration resulted in three new Seiko 5 Sports whose main difference is the bezel and the extra Nato strap that is supplied with each watch, it should also be noted that one of them is a special edition and the other two are limited editions.
All three models feature the usual 42.5mm stainless steel case inspired by the classic and discontinued SKX model, features a black dial, a white inner ring with minute scale, traditional day-date window at 3 o’clock, brand logo applied at 12 o’clock preceded by the “5” of the collection, at 6 o’clock the usual inscription “Automatic” is now replaced by “Rowing Blazers”. Another of the details on the dial is the second’s hand which features red and white colors as the red checkered flag. The open case back is engraved with the reclining skeleton motif from heraldry and the Latin motto “TEMPVS FVGIT”. The watches come with a three-link stainless steel bracelet and as mentioned an extra nylon strap.
The special edition Colorblock features a bezel in four colors, red, green, yellow, and blue, which reflects the spirit of the 90s and is at once irreverent, fun, but also classic and versatile. This edition is offered with an extra black Nato nylon strap.
The limited-edition Zig-Zag features a dark blue bezel with a red Zig-Zag, and it is not only reflected in the brand’s logo but is also used as a pattern on many of their clothing accessories such as ties (Royal Artillery tie) and socks. This edition is offered with an extra Nato nylon strap with 8-color stripes that are the signature of the “croquet” stripe brand.
The second limited edition Rally-Diver features a bezel in the colors of the black checkered flag and is inspired by the Seiko model from the 60s and 70s, the Seiko 6106-8229 which also featured a bezel with the same pattern. This edition is offered with an extra Nato nylon bracelet in light green.
All models will be starting today at 11 am ET or 5 pm CEST available for sale at rowingblazers.com, hodinkee.com, and seikousa.com for a price of $500.
