Armin Strom presents a new timepiece for its Tribute collection with the introduction of the Tribute² Aurum Edition, a watch that further explores the brand’s expertise in openworked architecture and traditional hand-finishing, while maintaining the restrained proportions that define the line. Building on the Tribute 1 platform, this new edition integrates a more expressive dial-side movement display and elevated decorative techniques, bringing previously concealed mechanical elements into view.

Case and Wearability

The Armin Strom Tribute² Aurum Edition is housed in a stainless-steel case measuring 38 mm in diameter with a thickness of just under 10 mm. Its compact proportions place it firmly in the dress watch category, while the short, angular lugs ensure a balanced presence on the wrist. The case combines polished surfaces on the upper sections with brushed flanks, creating a refined yet sharply defined profile. Sapphire crystals are fitted on both the front and back, water resistance is rated to 50 metres, and the crown is positioned at 2 o’clock for improved comfort and a distinctive visual signature.

Dial and Openworked Architecture

The dial side marks a clear evolution within the Tribute collection. The Tribute² Aurum Edition adopts a more openworked construction, revealing key mechanical components that were previously concealed. The dial base also serves as the movement’s mainplate and is crafted from brass, then gold-plated, which gives the watch its “Aurum” designation. This surface is finished entirely by hand using the tremblage technique, producing a fine, grain-like texture that contrasts with the exposed mechanical elements. A smoked grey sub-dial displays the hours and minutes, fitted with gold-coloured hands and markers for clear legibility.

Motor Barrel and Visible Mechanics

A defining technical feature of the watch is the fully exposed motor barrel. Openworked and fitted with hand-polished, bevelled spokes, it is held in place by a black-polished steel finger bridge with chamfered edges. Additional elements of the winding and transmission system, including the click, its bridge, and the winding wheels, are also visible from the dial side. This layout enhances the architectural character of the watch while maintaining a clean and balanced composition.

Movement and Technical Specifications

Powering the Tribute² Aurum Edition is the hand-wound Calibre AMW21, developed and manufactured entirely in-house by Armin Strom. Despite its compact dimensions, the movement delivers a 100-hour power reserve. This is achieved through the brand’s motor barrel construction, in which the barrel arbour directly transmits energy to the gear train, improving efficiency and optimising space. The calibre operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour) and features a variable inertia balance wheel paired with a flat overcoil hairspring. The balance is supported by Armin Strom’s signature System 78 finger bridge.

Viewed through the sapphire caseback, the movement displays a high level of traditional hand-finishing. The three-quarter bridge is decorated with Geneva stripes and outlined by a wide, hand-polished 60-degree bevel. A three-dimensional escapement wheel bridge with a polished countersink adds depth to the overall construction. As with all Armin Strom manufacture movements, the Calibre AMW21 is assembled twice to ensure precision and consistency.

Strap, Availability, and Price

The Armin Strom Tribute² Aurum Edition is delivered on a taupe Epsom leather strap with matching stitching. Production is limited to 10 pieces, reinforcing its exclusivity within the brand’s collection. The watch is priced at CHF 27,000.
