The Tissot PRX Chronograph Returns To Its Quartz Roots
The Tissot PRX has always had a strong connection with quartz technology. The original model introduced in 1978 was a quartz sports watch, while the modern PRX collection has since expanded to include automatic movements and, more recently, mechanical chronographs. Now, Tissot brings the chronograph concept back to its quartz roots with the new PRX Quartz Chronograph.
Positioned below the existing automatic chronograph, the new model combines the recognisable integrated-bracelet design of the PRX with a quartz chronograph movement, offering a more accessible alternative while retaining many of the collection’s key specifications.
The Case
The stainless-steel case measures 41 mm in diameter, placing it one millimetre below the 42 mm automatic PRX Chronograph. Its proportions retain the angular, sporty character that defines the PRX, with shaped chronograph pushers integrated into the case profile.

A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while 100 metres of water resistance gives the watch the versatility expected from a modern sports chronograph.
The reduced thickness made possible by the quartz movement also gives the watch a slightly more streamlined profile than its mechanical counterpart, although the stainless-steel construction and integrated bracelet still provide a substantial presence on the wrist.
Three Dial Configurations
Tissot offers the PRX Quartz Chronograph in three versions: silver, black and blue.
The silver dial combines its main surface with yellow-gold-coloured hands and applied hour markers, as well as matching detailing around the chronograph counters. The black and blue versions instead use silver-coloured hardware for a cooler appearance.

Unlike the waffle-patterned dials found on several automatic PRX models, these chronographs feature vertically brushed dial surfaces. The finish gives the three versions a more contemporary and technical appearance while providing a clear background for the various indications.
The hands and hour markers are treated with Super-LumiNova, maintaining legibility in lower-light conditions.
A Quartz Chronograph Layout
The dial is arranged around three sub-dials. At 3 o’clock, the chronograph provides a 1/10th-second indication, while the 6 o’clock sub-dial displays running seconds. The 9 o’clock counter measures elapsed minutes up to 30 minutes.

A date window is positioned at 4 o’clock, integrated into the dial without disrupting the overall PRX layout.
The configuration differs from the automatic PRX Chronograph, which uses a mechanical movement with a 12-hour chronograph counter. Here, the quartz architecture allows Tissot to offer 1/10th-second timing while simplifying the elapsed-time display.
Integrated Bracelet
The stainless-steel bracelet follows the characteristic integrated design established by the PRX. Its articulated construction is closely integrated with the case, maintaining the distinctive transition from the case to the first bracelet links.
Tissot also equips the watch with its quick-release system, allowing the bracelet to be removed without tools and making it possible to change to an alternative strap more easily.
A New Colour for the PRX Quartz
Alongside the new chronograph, Tissot is also introducing a fresh colour option for the 40 mm PRX Quartz time-and-date model. The new version features a purple dial, adding a more distinctive colour to the existing PRX Quartz offering while retaining the collection’s familiar integrated-bracelet design and quartz-powered format.

Quartz Performance
At the heart of the PRX Quartz Chronograph is a quartz chronograph movement equipped with an end-of-life indicator. This function provides a practical warning when the battery is approaching the end of its operating cycle.
Quartz technology also brings a different set of advantages compared with the automatic PRX Chronograph. Instead of the mechanical movement and its continuously moving seconds hand, the quartz calibre prioritises precision, convenience and the ability to measure tenths of a second.
For a chronograph designed around everyday usability, these characteristics make the movement particularly appropriate.
Price and Availability
The Tissot PRX Quartz Chronograph is priced at £430, positioning it substantially below the automatic PRX Chronograph, which is priced at £1,695.

With its 41mm stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, 100-metre water resistance, integrated bracelet and quartz chronograph movement, the new model brings the PRX chronograph design to a considerably lower price point.
