The Return Of The Red Pusher: Hanhart 417 ES Heritage Flyback Lands
The Hanhart 417 ES Heritage Flyback blends the functionality of a modern chronograph with a design rooted in aviation history. Now available in two case sizes—39 mm and 42 mm—this updated reference introduces new refinements to an already respected pilot’s watch lineage, offering both technical precision and vintage aesthetics.

Historical Design, Contemporary Engineering
The 417 ES Heritage Flyback pays homage to the original Hanhart pilot chronographs produced in the mid-20th century, originally developed for the German armed forces. This new iteration brings back a defining feature from that era: the red chronograph pusher. More than a decorative accent, this red pusher—crafted today from durable HyCeram—served historically as a safeguard against accidental resets during flight operations.
Other heritage-inspired design cues include the bi-directional fluted bezel with red marker, a domed sapphire crystal, and a matte black dial finished to emphasize legibility under all conditions.

The dial itself is executed in a bi-compax layout, with a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and a running seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. It features classic syringe-style hour and minute hands, which, along with the white Arabic numerals, are filled with Super-LumiNova for excellent readability in low light. A printed minute and second track runs around the outer edge of the dial, complemented by a central chronograph seconds hand. The brand’s historic logo sits just below the 12 o’clock marker, completing the retro-inspired design with a touch of period authenticity.
Two Sizes, Two Character Options
Customers can choose between a 39 mm solid steel case with an anti-magnetic inner structure or a 42 mm version equipped with a sapphire exhibition caseback. Both configurations maintain a 100-meter water resistance rating and feature a screw-down crown for enhanced durability.

Whether you opt for the compact 39 mm model or the bolder 42 mm version, the proportions are carefully balanced to maintain the tool-watch DNA that Hanhart is known for.
Flyback Chronograph Movement
At the heart of the 417 ES Heritage Flyback is the Sellita AMT5100 M caliber, a column-wheel chronograph movement developed with flyback functionality. Based on the robust Valjoux 7750 architecture, this upgraded movement features a 58-hour power reserve and stop-seconds capability, adding both convenience and performance for everyday use or demanding field applications.

Strap and Bracelet Options
The watch is offered on a leather strap with a leather underlay, echoing traditional pilot watch configurations, or a brushed stainless steel bracelet that enhances the model’s modern, sporty versatility. Both options contribute to the rugged yet refined character of the timepiece.
