Vacheron Constantin expands its luxury sports watch collection with the introduction of the new Overseas Ultra-Thin Ref. 2500V, a highly refined time-only model that marks the return of ultra-thin watchmaking to the Overseas line. Limited to just 255 pieces and available exclusively through the brand’s boutiques, this latest release combines elegant proportions, a new in-house movement, and the prestige of a full platinum construction.

The launch is particularly significant as it replaces the long-discontinued ultra-thin reference 2000V, while introducing an entirely new movement developed specifically for this model.

A New In-House Ultra-Thin Movement

At the heart of the new Overseas Ultra-Thin is the Caliber 2550, a fully in-house movement developed over a period of seven years. Measuring just 2.40 mm in thickness, the movement represents a major technical achievement for the Maison and highlights its expertise in slim mechanical watchmaking.

The automatic caliber uses a micro-rotor architecture, allowing Vacheron Constantin to keep the movement exceptionally thin without compromising self-winding functionality. The movement is further distinguished by its innovative suspended double-barrel construction, which delivers an impressive 80-hour power reserve.

Despite the compact dimensions of 30.60mm x 2.40 mm, the movement incorporates a sophisticated series-connected barrel system in which the barrels are arranged on different levels while sharing a single central pivot point. This engineering solution optimizes space usage and contributes to the extended autonomy.

Another notable technical detail is the single-level five-wheel gear train, designed to maximize efficiency and maintain the slim profile of the caliber. Two of the wheels are mounted on ball bearings, a detail that underlines the movement’s modern and highly technical construction.

Geneva Seal Finishing

In addition to its mechanical sophistication, the Caliber 2550 is finished to the high standards expected from Vacheron Constantin.

The movement carries the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, showcasing refined hand-finishing throughout. Visible through the sapphire caseback are Geneva stripes, polished bevels, carefully executed anglage, and alternating surface finishes on the micro-rotor, emphasizing both craftsmanship and visual depth.

These finishing details reinforce the watch’s position at the highest end of luxury sports watchmaking.

Elegant Ultra-Thin Case in Platinum

The new Overseas Ultra-Thin features a 39.50 mm platinum case with an impressively slim profile of only 7.35 mm thick, giving it a refined and elegant presence on the wrist.

Crafted from PT950 platinum, Vacheron Constantin notes that the alloy includes 5% copper and gallium, combined with a thermal hardening treatment designed to improve durability and resistance to scratches — an important enhancement for daily wear despite the precious metal construction.

The proportions make this one of the most wearable and elegant interpretations of the Overseas collection, particularly for collectors who prefer more restrained case dimensions.

Salmon Sunburst Dial

One of the standout visual elements of the watch is its sunray-brushed salmon dial, which introduces warmth and sophistication to the otherwise monochromatic platinum case and bracelet.

The dial’s metallic copper-toned hue changes dynamically depending on the light, creating strong contrast against the applied white gold markers and hands. This combination gives the watch a distinctly contemporary yet refined aesthetic.

The integrated platinum bracelet is complemented by two additional interchangeable straps, in line with the versatility offered across the Overseas collection.

Limited Boutique Release

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ultra-Thin Ref. 2500V is released as a boutique-exclusive limited edition of 255 individually numbered pieces and it has price of CHF 98,000.
