The Return Of A Classic: King Seiko 45 KCM Revival In KS1969 Series

Today Seiko announced the arrival of the King Seiko KS1969 Series and with them came many others in silence that we will try to talk about.

And starting with the announced new King Seiko is a revival of the retro King Seiko 45 KCM from 1969, which was essentially distinguished by its Tonneau-shaped case and chronometer-certified hand-wound movement.

The new models that now arrive come with a stainless steel case in the same shape with dimensions of 39.40mm in diameter and 9.90mm in thickness, therefore quite thin, presenting a mainly polished finish, boxed sapphire crystal, fluted crown at 3 o’clock with the brand coat of arms, screwed solid case back also with the same shield and 50m water resistance.

On the dial we can find applied baton hour markers, double at noon and engraved with the fletching of an arrow style, pencil hour hands and a framed date window next to the crown. It comes in four different colours, the SJE109 with a brushed silvery-white dial, the SJE111 with an EDO purple dial, the SJE113 with a gradient green dial and finally the limited edition of 700 pieces SJE115 which comes with guilloché “scales of rising of dragon” in light blue.

Inside, the old hand-wound movement now gives way to the modern Caliber 6L35 automatic movement that runs at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 45 hours of power reserve.

The watches come attached to a multi-link steel bracelet with a triple folding clasp with the brand’s signature and are expected to hit the market next July with a price of €3,200.
