The New Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight in Navy Blue
The market screamed loudly and a new Black Bay Fifty-Eight just born!
Since 2018 the year that Tudor introduced for the first time the Black Bay Fifty-Eight on the Black Bay collection, the community embraced it, making it one of the most sought after and desired watches.
Looking now both two Fifty-Eight side by side, we can realize how wise was the choice of the colours and how it was thought carefully by the twin brand of Rolex and if there is a brand that knows the steps to take, that brand is Rolex. If not, be aware, both models were inspired in old glories, the first on the 1958 Tudor Submarine and the second on the 1970’s Tudor Snowflaque. If the first of these two BB58 show a conservative and heritage look, the second in opposite shows a modern and contemporary look, which is a very smart move, who said we can’t have the better of both worlds?
Much will be here to say about the reason for this new blue dial, but that is will have to stay for the subject of an upcoming article.
But what exactly are the main differences between the BB58 of 2018 and this new BB58 of 2020? Adrian from Bark & Jack summarize it better than anybody, “what was black is now blue what was gold is now silver and the triangles gone” and that is it.
My first impressions about this watch is undoubtedly a great watch with a very good looking, I must confess I love that blue matte dial, the modern appearance of this new BB58 probably contrast with the versatility of the “old” BB58 black/gilt, so this will be a great headache for whom are now planning to acquire one of these pieces, not to mention the probable waitlist, who will also have to face.
