The New Seiko Prospex HBC011 Puts A Fan-Selected Blue Twist On The 62MAS

Seiko is giving its Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver a distinctive new look with the HBC011, a limited-edition model whose design was selected directly by the brand’s enthusiast community. Combining the familiar proportions and specifications of the modern 62MAS-inspired diver with a vibrant blue colour scheme, the new edition brings a contemporary interpretation of one of Seiko’s most important dive-watch designs.

A Design Chosen by Seiko Fans

The story behind the HBC011 began in July 2025, when Seiko invited its global Prospex community to participate in an online and in-person voting campaign. Enthusiasts were presented with four possible colour combinations for the 1965 Heritage Diver, each representing a different seascape and time of day.

The choices included sunrise orange, daytime blue, late-afternoon green and sunset red. The Daytime Blue design ultimately received the most votes and has now become the basis for the HBC011.

The result is a watch that retains the unmistakable character of the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver while introducing a brighter and more colourful personality.

A Modern Take on the 62MAS

The HBC011 takes its design cues from Seiko’s first professional diver, the 1965 62MAS, but is based on the brand’s contemporary Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver platform.

Its 40 mm stainless-steel case offers relatively compact dimensions for a modern mechanical dive watch, while the case and bracelet receive a hard coating designed to improve resistance to everyday wear. At 13mm thick, the watch maintains the substantial presence expected from a professional diver without moving away from the proportions of the current 1965 Heritage Diver family.

The case is complemented by a screw-down crown, a solid stainless-steel caseback and a 300-metre water-resistance rating, making the HBC011 a fully capable diving instrument rather than simply a retro-inspired sports watch.

Daytime Blue Dial and Bezel

The defining feature of the HBC011 is undoubtedly its colour scheme. The turquoise-blue dial and matching bezel represent the daytime seascape that won Seiko’s fan vote.

The dial features an embossed wave pattern, adding texture beneath the vibrant blue surface. This pattern is also found on the SPB511 limited edition, giving the HBC011 an additional connection to Seiko’s recent Prospex releases.

Applied hour markers and hands are filled with luminous material for visibility underwater and in low-light conditions, while the overall layout remains deliberately close to the established 1965 Heritage Diver design.

The bezel features a Daytime Blue metal insert, maintaining the visual continuity between the dial and the surrounding case.

A sapphire crystal protects the dial, providing greater scratch resistance than the mineral crystals traditionally associated with many vintage-inspired dive watches.

Bracelet with Slide Adjuster

The watch is fitted to a stainless-steel three-link bracelet that matches the hard-coated case. One of its practical features is Seiko’s newer slide-adjusting clasp, allowing the bracelet length to be extended or shortened quickly without the need for traditional micro-adjustment tools.

This is particularly useful when wearing the watch over a diving suit, where additional wrist clearance can be required.

The 6R55 Automatic Movement

Inside the HBC011 is Seiko’s Calibre 6R55, an in-house automatic movement offering a three-day power reserve.

The movement provides the watch with the practicality expected from a modern mechanical Prospex diver while retaining the mechanical character that defines the collection. Combined with the 300m water resistance and robust case construction, the 6R55 makes the HBC011 suited to both everyday wear and more demanding environments.

Limited to 4,500 Pieces

The Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver Watch Fan-Selected Limited Edition HBC011 will be produced in 4,500 pieces worldwide.

The watch is scheduled to become available internationally from October 2026, priced at € 1,550.

More than simply another colour variation, the HBC011 represents an interesting experiment by Seiko: allowing its enthusiast community to have a direct influence on the design of a production watch. The winning Daytime Blue combination gives the familiar 1965 Heritage Diver a noticeably more contemporary appearance while preserving the specifications and proportions of the modern 62MAS-inspired platform.
