The New Seiko 5 Sports HDB010 Is Inspired By Honda’s Legendary Motocompo
Some vehicles achieve cult status not through performance, but through originality. Honda’s Motocompo is one such example, and to mark the 45th anniversary of the foldable scooter, Seiko has created a dedicated limited edition within its 5 Sports collection. The new HDB010 draws inspiration from the Motocompo’s unmistakable styling, translating many of its distinctive design elements into a compact mechanical field watch.
Compact Mid-Field Case With Stealth Finish
The watch is based on Seiko’s compact 5 Sports Mid-Field platform, featuring a stainless steel case measuring 36.40 mm in diameter, 12.50 mm thick and 44.40 mm lug-to-lug. Its proportions make it suitable for a wide range of wrists while maintaining the rugged character of the collection.

A matte black hard coating gives the case a tactical appearance, complemented by a matching black crown positioned at 3 o’clock. A subtle detail links the watch directly to the scooter, with the side of the crown engraved with the word “TURN”, echoing the design of the Motocompo’s fuel cock. The watch is fitted with a Hardlex crystal, while the screwed case back features a mineral glass display decorated with exclusive Honda and Motocompo graphics. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.
A Dial Inspired By The Honda Motocompo
The strongest visual connection to Honda’s iconic scooter comes through the vibrant yellow dial, instantly recalling the colour most closely associated with the original Motocompo.

Raised black Arabic numerals are paired with luminescent hour markers to ensure excellent readability, while a horizontal black stripe across the centre carries the Honda logo, referencing the protective side bars found on the motorcycle. Another thoughtful detail is the Automatic inscription, which adopts the same typography used for the Motocompo logo.
Practicality remains a key element of the Seiko 5 Sports formula, with a day-date display at 3 o’clock featuring matching black discs that integrate seamlessly with the overall design.
Proven Automatic Movement
Powering the HDB010 is Seiko’s reliable Calibre 4R36 automatic movement. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), it provides approximately 41 hours of power reserve and offers both hacking seconds and manual winding, making it a dependable choice for daily wear.

Strap With Functional Design References
The supplied black nylon strap continues the Motocompo theme through subtle design cues inspired by the straps used to secure the folded scooter inside a vehicle. The keepers are printed with “Carrying Point”, while the strap tip is marked “Insertion Point”, adding another layer of authenticity to the collaboration without compromising usability.

Limited Edition Presentation
Limited to 8,000 individually numbered pieces, the Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo HDB010 will be available from September 2026. It is presented in a dedicated collector’s box designed to resemble the corrugated cardboard packaging originally used to transport the Honda Motocompo, reinforcing the nostalgic connection between the two Japanese icons.

The new Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo HDB010 carries a recommended retail price of GBP 340, positioning it as an accessible limited edition that combines Seiko’s dependable mechanical watchmaking with one of Honda’s most recognisable urban mobility creations.
