Nivada Grenchen continues its mission of reintroducing historic models with updated specifications through the Antarctic Diver Aquamar, a watch that takes inspiration from the brand’s late-1960s catalog. This release brings together signature dive watch design codes with subtle, contemporary engineering upgrades.

Case and Bezel

Encased in stainless steel, the Antarctic Diver Aquamar features a 38 mm diameter and a thickness of 12.90 mm. The combination of brushed and polished finishing creates a utilitarian yet refined aesthetic. A bidirectional bezel fitted with a black ceramic insert ensures precise timing capability while maintaining a retro diving style. The solid screw-down caseback is engraved with the emblematic penguin on a gold medallion, reinforcing the Antarctic lineage.

Dial and Crystal

The dial is offered in three matte color options—blue, black, and grey—and is protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal. A defining element is the sandwich-style construction, which introduces depth to the dial with recessed hour markers that expose the luminous layer beneath. This layered effect is accentuated by a unique date display: the calendar disc rotates in such a way that it can show different shades of Super-LumiNova, either white or beige, depending on its alignment—an unusual yet practical feature controlled via the crown.

Movement

Inside, the watch is equipped with the automatic Soprod P024 movement. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement ensures accurate timekeeping while remaining serviceable and robust for everyday use.

Strap Options and Pricing

Nivada offers a broad selection of straps and bracelets, including leather straps, Tropic-style rubber, and two stainless steel bracelet options—beads-of-rice and flat-link. This modularity allows for easy customization and enhances the watch’s versatility.
