The New Hanhart 417 TI Desert Pilot In Grade 5 Titanium
Hanhart continues to build on its historic 417 line with the new 417 TI Desert Pilot Limited Edition. This latest release combines the design codes of the 1950s military chronograph with modern materials and upgraded chronograph mechanics.

Titanium Case: A First for the 417
For the first time in the 417 Pilot collection, Hanhart introduces a Grade 5 titanium case, replacing the traditional stainless steel construction found in previous models. Titanium not only reduces the overall weight of the watch but also improves durability and corrosion resistance, reinforcing its tool-watch credentials.

The case is sandblasted, resulting in a matte, non-reflective surface that enhances the instrument-like character of the watch. This finish gives the 417 TI Desert Pilot a stealthier and more technical appearance while remaining faithful to its military roots.
The model is available in two case diameters, 39 mm and 42 mm, and both share the same proportions. The total thickness measures 13.6mm including the domed sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres, making it suitable for everyday wear and light aquatic use.
Retro Design with Desert Aesthetic
The 417 TI Desert Pilot retains the defining elements of the original 1950s chronograph. Its distinctive coin-edge bezel, now crafted from titanium, rotates in both directions and features the brand’s hallmark red position marking. The chronograph pushers follow the traditional piston style, and a highly domed sapphire crystal reinforces the vintage profile of the watch.

The sand-coloured dial introduces a desert-inspired tone to the collection while preserving the classic bi-compax layout. Two subdials are symmetrically arranged, maintaining the balanced aesthetic of the historic 417. Arabic numerals, syringe-style hands and the historical Hanhart logo further underline the watch’s heritage.
Although both the hands and numerals are treated with Super-LumiNova, the luminous effect is intentionally restrained. The black numerals and sand-toned hands limit the brightness of the glow, prioritising visual authenticity over strong nighttime visibility.
Manual-Winding Flyback Chronograph
At the heart of the watch is the Sellita AMT5100 M, a manual-winding column-wheel chronograph movement with flyback functionality, based on the SW510 architecture. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers a minimum power reserve of 58 hours. It also features hacking seconds for precise time setting.

Strap, Limited Edition and Price
The 417 TI Desert Pilot is fitted with a sand-coloured rubber strap featuring a woven texture, visually aligned with the tone of the dial. The strap is secured with a titanium pin buckle, maintaining material consistency and keeping the watch lightweight on the wrist.

Both the 39 mm and 42 mm versions are limited to 200 pieces each. The retail price is set at € 2,990.
With its titanium construction, desert-toned dial and robust flyback chronograph movement, the Hanhart 417 TI Desert Pilot Limited Edition offers a modern technical interpretation of one of the brand’s most emblematic military chronographs, while preserving the core design language that defines the 417 collection.
