The New Citizen Tsuyosa 60 Automatic 37mm Is Small In Size, Big On Upgrades
Since its introduction in 2022, the Citizen Tsuyosa has established itself as one of the Japanese brand’s most accessible takes on the integrated-bracelet sports watch. The collection has gradually expanded beyond its original 40 mm format, with new colours, finishes and mechanical upgrades bringing additional refinement to the formula. Now, the Tsuyosa 60 Automatic treatment reaches the more compact 37 mm case.
The new Citizen Tsuyosa 60 Automatic 37 mm combines the familiar barrel-shaped case and integrated bracelet design with a textured dial, upgraded bracelet and a new-generation automatic movement offering a 60-hour power reserve. Three references join the permanent collection, including two stainless-steel versions and a gold-tone alternative.
A Compact Tsuyosa Case
The overall architecture remains unmistakably Tsuyosa. The 37 mm stainless-steel case has a rounded, barrel-shaped profile inspired by the sports watches of the late 1970s and 1980s, with a raised bezel and a mixture of brushed and polished surfaces that accentuates its contours.
The compact dimensions measure 37 mm in diameter, approximately 11.50 mm in thickness and around 43 mm from lug to lug. These proportions give the watch a distinctly smaller presence than the original 40 mm Tsuyosa, while retaining the integrated-bracelet character of the collection.
Citizen also retains one of the model’s signature details: the recessed crown positioned at 4 o’clock. The caseback is fitted with a transparent crystal, allowing the upgraded automatic movement to be viewed.
Water resistance is rated at 50 metres, making the Tsuyosa 60 suitable for everyday use, although it is not intended to compete with Citizen’s dedicated dive watches.
Textured Dials
One of the most visible differences between the standard Tsuyosa and the Tsuyosa 60 is the dial treatment.
The 37 mm models feature a detailed stamped pattern with a guilloché-like appearance. Rather than relying solely on colour to create visual interest, the textured surface interacts with the light and gives the dial considerably more depth.
The date window remains positioned at 3 o’clock, beneath a magnifying lens integrated into the sapphire crystal. Applied hour markers and hands provide the main indications, with generous amounts of luminous material used to improve legibility in low-light conditions.
Citizen offers three dial configurations. The NK0030-51E pairs the stainless-steel case and bracelet with a classic black dial, while the NK0030-51X introduces a turquoise dial for a fresher interpretation. The third option, reference NK0032-56A, combines a gold-tone plated case and bracelet with a silver-coloured dial, complemented by matching gold-coloured hands and hour markers.
Sapphire Crystal and Integrated Bracelet
The dial is protected by sapphire crystal, an important specification in a watch positioned around the € 400 mark. The integrated construction continues directly into the bracelet, preserving the cohesive appearance that has been central to the Tsuyosa’s identity.
For the Tsuyosa 60, Citizen replaces the original three-link bracelet design with a multi-link, Jubilee-style bracelet. It combines brushed and polished elements and is completed by a concealed butterfly clasp.
The new bracelet therefore contributes not only to the visual refinement of the 37 mm model but also gives the compact watch a more elaborate appearance on the wrist.
Citizen Calibre 8310
Powering the Tsuyosa 60 Automatic 37mm is Citizen’s calibre 8310, an evolution of the calibre 8210 used in earlier Tsuyosa models.
The most significant mechanical change is the increased power reserve. The 8310 provides up to 60 hours, compared with approximately 40 hours for the previous generation. This makes it possible to take the watch off for the weekend and return to it without necessarily having to reset the time.
The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, or 3Hz, and includes hacking seconds for more precise time setting. Citizen specifies an accuracy range of -20/+40 seconds per day.
Visible through the exhibition caseback, the movement also receives a more elaborate finish. It is rhodium-plated and features blue-coloured screws, an openworked rotor and decorative striping on the main bridge.

Our Opinion
The Tsuyosa has always offered an attractive combination of compact styling, automatic mechanics and an integrated-bracelet design at an accessible price. With the Tsuyosa 60 Automatic 37 mm, Citizen has taken that formula and concentrated it into a more compact case while adding meaningful upgrades.
The 37 mm dimensions should make the model particularly interesting for those who find the original 40mm Tsuyosa too large, while the textured dials, upgraded bracelet and 60-hour power reserve give the Tsuyosa 60 a more complete specification.
At € 379, the black and green versions remain firmly within the accessible segment, while the gold-tone model adds another visual option without moving dramatically away from the collection’s value-oriented positioning. The result is one of the most interesting compact propositions within the current Tsuyosa family.
