The New Bremont Altitude MB Meteor “Felix The Cat” Celebrates Naval Aviation Heritage
Bremont expands its aviation-inspired lineup with the new Altitude MB Meteor “Felix the Cat”, a limited-edition pilot’s watch that celebrates the long-standing connection between the iconic cartoon character and U.S. Navy fighter pilots.
The release blends Bremont’s robust pilot watch engineering with a piece of aviation history, referencing the famous mascot of the U.S. Navy’s VF-31 “Tomcatters” squadron.
A Century-Old Aviation Mascot
Felix the Cat has been linked to U.S. Navy aviation since the 1920s. The character appeared on the insignia of the VF-3 fighter squadron, depicted carrying a bomb with a lit fuse.

Over time, the squadron went through several changes and eventually became VF-31 “Tomcatters”, which continues to use the image of Felix carrying a bomb as its official emblem today. This historical connection between the cartoon figure and naval aviation serves as the inspiration behind Bremont’s special edition.
Stealthy Pilot Watch Design
The Altitude MB Meteor “Felix the Cat” is based on Bremont’s flagship ejection-seat-tested pilot watch platform.
The watch comes in a 42 mm Trip-Tick case made from Grade 2 titanium and finished with a black DLC coating, giving the timepiece a stealthy appearance while enhancing durability and reducing weight. The same black DLC treatment is also applied to the optional titanium bracelet.
The dial follows the same tactical aesthetic with a matte black finish designed to maximize legibility. Applied Arabic numerals and the main handset are outlined in black and filled with blue-emission Super-LumiNova, allowing the watch to remain clearly readable in low-light conditions.

Subtle aviation-inspired details further reinforce the design. The minute track features yellow accents that add contrast to the dark dial, while the seconds hand retains Bremont’s distinctive counterweight styled after aircraft ejection handles, finished with black and yellow striping. Additional color touches appear through a red arrow marker positioned at 12 o’clock on the inner rotating bezel, which visually aligns with the red lollipop tip at the end of the central seconds hand.
The watch also offers 100 meters of water resistance, maintaining the rugged capabilities expected from Bremont’s aviation-focused models.
Felix on the Dial
The most distinctive feature of the watch is the presence of Felix himself on the dial at the 6 o’clock position.

The applied figure depicts the cartoon character running while carrying away the numeral “6” from the dial. This playful detail references the aviation phrase “watch your six,” commonly used by fighter pilots to warn others about potential threats approaching from behind. At the same time, the design captures the mischievous personality that made the character famous.
Felix also appears on the sapphire exhibition caseback, where his smiling face is printed on the crystal above the movement.
Automatic Movement and Protective Construction
Inside the watch is the Calibre BB14, based on the La Joux-Perret G100 automatic movement. The movement offers a power reserve of approximately 68 hours and features decorative finishing visible through the transparent caseback.

As part of the MB Meteor architecture, the movement is mounted inside a rubber shock-absorbing system designed to help protect it from impacts. Surrounding this assembly is a soft iron cage that helps shield the movement from magnetic interference, an important feature for a professional pilot watch.

Our take
In many ways, the Altitude MB Meteor “Felix the Cat” is more than just a playful limited edition. It reflects a century-long relationship between aviation culture and iconic symbols that have accompanied pilots through generations. Given Felix’s deep connection to U.S. Navy fighter squadrons, it would not be surprising to see the famous character painted on the fuselage of aircraft such as the Boeing F/A‑18F Super Hornet operating from American aircraft carriers today. As naval aviation once again takes center stage in global events amid tensions between the United States and Iran, the historic mascot remains a reminder of the enduring traditions that link aviation history, military heritage, and watchmaking.
