The Montre de Souscription 4: Habring² And Monochrome’s Latest Collaboration
Independent Austrian watchmaker Habring² reunites with Monochrome for the fourth edition of the Montre de Souscription series, introducing the Montre de Souscription 4 “Seconde Morte.” As with previous releases, the watch is offered through a subscription-based sales model and is positioned as a mechanically focused collaboration that emphasizes functional complications and restrained design.

The new model is based on the Habring² Erwin, a compact three-hand watch distinguished by its deadbeat, or jumping, seconds complication. Unlike a conventional mechanical seconds hand that sweeps continuously, the seconds hand on the Seconde Morte advances in precise one-second increments. This system was historically used in observatory and scientific timekeeping applications, where precise visual timing was required, and remains relatively rare in modern mechanical watchmaking due to its added complexity.
Dial and Display
The Seconde Morte features a high-gloss black dial with a contrasting white layout designed for clarity and balance. Time is indicated by polished leaf-shaped hands, while the hours are marked by applied Roman numerals paired with diamond-shaped hour markers, all fully polished to stand out against the dark surface. The remaining dial elements, including the minute track, numerals, and branding, are printed in flat white, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance.

While minimalist in execution, the dial incorporates subtle early 20th-century influences, with restrained Art Deco references rather than overt vintage styling.
Case and Dimensions
The watch is housed in a fully brushed stainless steel case, chosen for its uniform and understated appearance. Design details include a double-stepped bezel and drilled lugs, both of which reinforce the watch’s utilitarian roots while remaining consistent with its historical inspirations.

In terms of size, the case measures 38.50 mm in diameter, with a thickness of 9 mm and a lug-to-lug length of 45.60 mm. These proportions keep the watch compact and traditionally sized, while still offering modern wearability across a wide range of wrist sizes.
Movement: Calibre A11S
Powering the Montre de Souscription 4 is the Habring² Calibre A11S, an in-house modified movement equipped with the deadbeat seconds mechanism. The movement is visible through a sapphire exhibition caseback, which is engraved with the Monochrome logo and Montre de Souscription markings, visually linking this release to earlier collaborations between the two parties.

Finishing follows Habring²’s established approach, featuring circular brushing, perlage, and blued screws, with the jumping-seconds mechanism clearly visible during operation.
Availability and Pricing
The Habring² x Monochrome Montre de Souscription 4 Seconde Morte is produced in a limited run of 33 individually numbered pieces and will be available exclusively through a subscription format. The price is set at € 6,000, with subscriptions opening on December 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM CET. The ordering window will remain open for two weeks or until all 33 watches have been allocated.

Delivery is expected to take place between late February and March 2026.
Final Notes
With this fourth Montre de Souscription release, the collaboration continues to focus on mechanical relevance rather than trend-driven design. The Seconde Morte stands out through its uncommon complication, compact case dimensions, and disciplined aesthetic, reflecting both Habring²’s technical philosophy and the intent behind Monochrome’s subscription series.
