On November 19, TAG Heuer launched a limited-edition Gold TAG Heuer Carrera, to celebrate the 88th birthday of Jack Heuer, former CEO and honorary president of the company founded by his great-grandfather.
This new watch is inspired by the Carrera 1158CHN from the 70s, Jack Heuer’s favourite Heuer watch. The Carrera 1158CHN, is part of the Carrera line created in 1963 and made for professional racing drivers, with a minimalist dial that made it recognizable. This specific reference was made in gold and used as a good luck gift for Ferrari’s Formula 1 drivers during the partnership between Heuer and Ferrari at the time. Among the pilots were legendary names like Ronnie Peterson, Niki Lauda and Clay Regazzoni.
This new edition is limited to 188 units, with a 42 mm case in 18K rose gold, a silver opaline dial, two subdials of the chronograph at 3 and 9 o’clock in black and a second “ghost subdial” at 6 o’clock and just below, a date window, hour-markers applied, two infinite loops applied to the dial, symbolizing Jack’s 88 years and his infinite legacy for the brand. Inside, it is equipped with the Caliber In-house Heuer 02, with an impressive 80 hours of power reserve, through the sapphire crystal case back it is possible to observe the manufacturing movement and also Jack’s inspiring motto “Time never stops, why should we?” recorded in the oscillating mass.
The Gold TAG Heuer Carrera limited-edition is now available in TAG Heuer boutiques for pre-order, for the price of € 17,450.
