The Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Auto is Now Available in 38mm
Lovers of Hamilton’s bestseller can rejoice as there are five new Khaki Field watches to add to the collection.
The five new additions are part of the Titanium Auto line and expand to five, or six if we count the limited edition Far Cry 6 released last year, the number of options in what was until now the only size available in 42mm diameter, now also featuring the new 38mm size, as was already the case within the collection with the Mechanic and Quartz lines, adding now three models to this new size.
The five new watches at first glance do not show any modification in terms of the case, dial or movement, keeping all their aesthetics and following the small nuances introduced in September last year with the launch of the Khaki Field Titanium Far Cry 6, in which it left the previous engraving of the inscription “Titanium” on the side of the watch case, which we saw as a positive point, but also the disappearance of the drilled lugs, which in our opinion translated into a negative point.
Inside, the imperative self-winding movement Caliber H10 continues to operate, offering an impressive 80 hours of power reserve, which can be seen operating through the open case back, which features an oscillating weight that is engraved with the name and logo of the brand.
The dial continues to display three distinct areas: a central lighter-toned that displays the last 12 hours of the day, a darker-toned central ring that displays the first 12 hours of the day, and a periphery ring with the minutes and seconds track, in addition to the syringe hands and the usual inscriptions of “Hamilton” and “Khaki Automatic” at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively.
Regarding the different variants and starting with the size 42mm, we have a variant in navy blue with white accents and a variant in green (khaki) with white and orange accents. As for the three 38mm variants, one comes in the same shade of green of the large size, another comes with a black/grey dial with white and orange accents, and finally, one variant features a uniform grey textured dial like the lunar surface with white accents.
It should also be noted that the titanium case of the watches has a brushed finish, with the exception of the 38mm variant with the lunar surface dial that features a black PVD finish.
The watches are offered with a leather strap in tan tones for the navy blue and green variants, in green for the black variant and in grey for the grey variant.
Regarding prices, the new 42mm additions follow the CHF 950 price of the previous models, while the new 38mm additions have a price of CHF 870 and CHF 915 for the brushed titanium and PVD titanium variants respectively.
Our Opinion
We liked all the new colour variants, the introduction of the new 38mm size is only late and will surely bring more people to titanium, finally highlighting the price which in terms of value proposition is almost unbeatable.
What we liked less, was there is nothing new and they are the same points already mentioned, and they are, the excessive lug-to-lug distance as well as the absence of drilled lugs.
