The Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical now in Bronze
If you usually read my articles often, you may already know a little of my tastes, I like watches in general, but the simple, discreet, and uncomplicated pieces touch me more closely, I am a fan of the old maxim, and here not just for watches that “less is more”.
Bronze watches have never fascinated me and I have always placed them on a level apart, however for some time now I have been going against this trend and largely because of social networks I confess, I see more and more enthusiasts with bronze pieces and that that didn’t say anything to me, now starts to say something, I’m not sure if it’s the fact of having a retro look, the fact of positioning itself between the informal and the formal but without touching the latter too much, the truth is that they have something special and if you are one of those who already own some watches, you start to wonder why you still don’t have the bronze watch in your collection.
About two weeks ago, I wrote an article about the new Seiko 5 SRPG, a field watch that very much resembles the fantastic Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, and in this article among the other variants there was one that seemed to be in bronze and that I even chose as one of my favorites among the several available variants, the SRPG42, which apparently comes with a steel case and a bronze coating (based on the photos) and I leave here the caveat that it was the only variant that I haven’t been able to see live yet, that I was really tempted, the green-black gradient dial with gilt accents, brown leather strap and “supposedly” bronze case (ok, not exactly bronze but coating) won my heart and made me want to have one.
Today it was Hamilton’s turn to present its khaki field mechanical version in bronze, and this one does come with a real bronze case, it’s for purists, this new variant also comes with a titanium case back and the rest is exactly the same because what is already perfect doesn’t need improvement. Briefly, 38mm case, clear and uncomplicated dial, indexes and hands filled with Faustina and inside the no-less shiny mechanical movement Caliber H-50 that offers up to 80 hours of power reserve. This new variant comes with a black dial and a brown leather Nato strap that perfectly matches the bronze case.
Final Considerations
I and the community, in general, admire Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, I recently had one that I liked a lot, but for lack of use I ended up letting it go, however, I still consider it one of the best market values for those looking for it as a unique watch, for those who are just starting this hobby or simply for those who want to add an interesting piece to their collection. This bronze variant, despite costing around € 300 more than the normal variants, is probably one of the best deals on the market in bronze, let’s not forget that it comes in a bronze case, titanium case back, and leather strap with pin buckle in titanium. Yes, we liked it.
One more Novelty…
Hamilton has further expanded its offer in the Khaki Field Mechanical collection, in addition to the traditional 38mm size it now offers four new variants in 42mm diameter, available in black and a white dial, both models are offered in a green NATO nylon strap or a stainless steel bracelet. These new variants cost on average around €120 more than the 38mm variants.
