The Fifty Fathoms Gets A Sleek Redesign In 38MM

Blancpain has expanded its iconic Fifty Fathoms collection with the introduction of two new models, both housed in a 38 mm case — a first for the line. These new references stay true to the Fifty Fathoms’ heritage as a professional dive watch, while presenting a more compact diameter aimed at broader wrist versatility.

The new timepieces are offered in two configurations: one in polished red gold paired with a black mother-of-pearl (MOP) dial, and the other in brushed titanium with a pink MOP dial. Both dials exhibit a dégradé finish, providing subtle depth and color gradation beneath the sapphire crystal.

Redesigned Case, Same Robust Performance

Although the case has been scaled down to 38 mm, Blancpain emphasizes that this is not simply a miniaturization of an existing design. The architecture of the case has been reworked to maintain balance and harmony across all proportions. The familiar “Blancpain” engraving on the caseband remains, preserving the DNA of the larger Fifty Fathoms models.

Each watch has a thickness of 12 mm, contributing to a profile that is both compact and sturdy. They are equipped with domed unidirectional sapphire bezels, which feature luminous markers and large, easy-to-read Arabic numerals positioned at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. On the dial the hour and minute hands, along with the applied hour markers, are treated with luminescent material to ensure excellent visibility underwater or in low-light environments. A red-tipped central seconds hand adds a functional touch of contrast.

Movement and Technical Specifications

Inside the case beats the Blancpain Caliber 1153, an in-house automatic movement that operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour). This movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 100 hours, or four days, and is visible through a sapphire caseback that showcases the brand’s attention to movement finishing.

The timepieces are built to meet the rigorous demands of deep-sea diving, offering a water resistance of 300 meters. Despite the smaller case, the models remain fully capable dive watches that align with the Fifty Fathoms legacy.

Material and Strap Options

The red gold model with a black mother-of-pearl dial is available with a selection of strap choices, including a sail-canvas strap, a tropic rubber strap, or a NATO-style fabric strap. Both the sail-canvas and rubber options can be secured with either a pin buckle or a folding clasp.

The titanium model with the pink mother-of-pearl dial comes with either a two-tone pink and white fabric strap or a matching titanium bracelet, offering a more contemporary and lightweight wearing experience.

The titanium version with pink dial is priced from CHF 15,500, while the red gold model with black dial starts at CHF 26,100.
