The Emirates Team New Zealand celebrates victory at the 36th edition of America’s Cup
The Emirates Team New Zealand has just won the trophy of the 36th edition of America’s Cup. This is its fourth trophy in the queen sailing event worldwide, after having won in 1995, 2000 and 2017 that same trophy also known as “ Auld Mug ”.
The “Kiwis” as they are known, defeated the Luna Rossa Prada Pielli Team on the seventh day of the race in 10 races held, 7-3, in a tough battle in Auckland’s Waitemata Bay.
This 36th edition is marked by the new design of the boats, the amazing AC75 boats, designed to fly. The 23 m (75 ft) monohulls, featured wing-like sailing hydrofoils mounted under the hull, a soft wing-sail, and no keel.
Omega is back to writing a new page in the world of sailing, as it has been the official sponsor and supporter of the “Kiwis” team since 1995. In addition, Omega was the Official Timekeeper for this 36th edition of America’s Cup, just as it had already happened in 2000 and 2003.
