Swiss dive watch specialist Doxa continues to expand its lineup of retailer collaborations with a new limited edition created together with Italian luxury retailer Gioielleria Grande. The result is the Doxa SUB 200 Grande Roma Edition, a watch that retains the classic design language of the SUB 200 while introducing distinctive visual elements inspired by the Italian capital.

Limited to just 50 pieces, this special edition combines the vintage-inspired architecture of the SUB 200 with a darker, more understated aesthetic and details that pay tribute to one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks.

A Gradient Dial with Roman Inspiration

One of the most notable features of the SUB 200 Grande Roma Edition is its gradient dial. Instead of the bright colors typically associated with Doxa dive watches, this model adopts a more restrained and elegant palette.

The dial transitions from warm brown tones at the center to a deep near-black at the outer edge, creating a subtle fumé effect that adds visual depth while maintaining excellent contrast. This darker aesthetic offers a refined interpretation of the SUB 200 without compromising the legibility that defines Doxa dive watches.

Large applied hour markers and bold hands are filled with Super-LumiNova, ensuring strong readability in low-light environments. A date display at 3 o’clock adds practicality for daily use.

The Rome theme also appears directly on the dial. At 6 o’clock, just above the SUB 200 inscription, the watch features a discreet drawing of the Colosseum, subtly reinforcing the connection to the Italian capital while preserving the clean and balanced design of the dial.

Classic SUB 200 Case Architecture

The watch is housed in the familiar stainless steel case used across the SUB 200 collection. Its proportions and design draw inspiration from Doxa’s historic dive watches of the late 1960s, when the brand built its reputation among professional divers.

The stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and offers 200m of water resistance, making it suitable for recreational diving as well as everyday wear. A screw-down crown contributes to the watch’s robust construction and helps ensure its water resistance.

Surrounding the dial is a unidirectional rotating steel bezel equipped with luminous markings that allow divers to monitor elapsed time underwater. Protecting the dial is a “glass box” sapphire crystal, whose domed profile recalls vintage acrylic crystals while delivering the durability and scratch resistance of modern sapphire.

Rome on the Caseback

Turning the watch over reveals another detail that highlights the Roman inspiration behind this edition. The screw-down caseback is engraved with a detailed image of the Colosseum, one of the most recognizable monuments of the city.

The engraving is accompanied by the “GRANDE” inscription and the individual numbering of each watch, emphasizing the limited production run of just fifty pieces.

Sellita Automatic Movement

Powering the watch is the reliable Sellita SW200, a widely used Swiss automatic caliber appreciated for its durability and ease of servicing.

The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours, while also supporting the watch’s date function displayed at 3 o’clock.

Bracelet and Additional Strap

The SUB 200 Grande Roma Edition is delivered on Doxa’s signature stainless steel “beads-of-rice” bracelet, a design closely associated with the brand’s vintage dive watches.

The bracelet is equipped with a folding clasp and includes a diving extension, allowing the watch to be worn comfortably over a wetsuit. In addition to the steel bracelet, the watch also comes with a brown NATO strap, offering a lighter and more casual alternative for everyday wear.

The Doxa SUB 200 Grande Roma Edition is limited to 50 pieces worldwide and is available exclusively in Italy through the boutiques of Gioielleria Grande.
