The Classic Breitling Navitimer 46 Now Arrives In Two-Tone And Grey
Breitling has just launched a limited edition exclusive to the US market of its classic Navitimer 46.
The new Navitimer, which adds to the brand’s collection of aviation chronographs, is presented in a two-tone case and an anthracite dial that contrasts with its three black totalizers.
Wearing the usual robust 46mm diameter by 13.90mm thick stainless steel case, it now comes with an 18k red gold notched bezel that matches the gilt accents on the dial. All other settings remain, including sapphire glass on both sides, a fluted crown embossed with the brand’s logo flanked by two pump-style pushers and 30m of water resistance.
The grey dial comes with the traditional busy format, translated into the two-level slide rule with white inscriptions, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 with a date aperture and a running seconds at 9. Gold applied hour indexes with luminescent plots and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, chronograph centre seconds hand with a red tip and the applied gold AOPA logo at noon.
Its heart continues to be pumped by Manufacture Caliber B01 which is COSC certified, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 70 hours of power reserve.
The exclusive chronograph that comes attached to a black alligator leather strap with a deployment clasp is limited to 300 units and can be purchased for USD 11,900.
Our Opinion
Despite not being a big fan of robust timepieces and two-tone cases, I must confess that this version of the Navitimer is probably my favourite so far.
The two-tone case, which is a first for the Navitimer in the chronograph version, works in harmony with the elegant anthracite dial which, thanks to its sub-dials and the outer ring in black, remains interesting to our eyes complemented by the details in gold and the white inscriptions that fill the remaining layout.
Unfortunately, it is geographic exclusivity will leave many fans out of this race.
