The Citizen Rolan Returns Cleaner, Sharper, And More Refined
Citizen has unveiled a refreshed version of its Rolan collection, bringing a more refined and elegant aesthetic to its affordable dress watch lineup. While retaining the brand’s hallmark Eco-Drive technology, the new Rolan arrives with a redesigned case, a cleaner dial layout, and an overall more sophisticated appearance that enhances its dress-watch credentials.

A Refined Case Design
The new Citizen Rolan continues to feature a classic round stainless steel case, although it has grown slightly in size, now measuring 41 mm in diameter. While many enthusiasts may prefer a more compact size for a traditional dress watch, the larger dimensions reflect contemporary market preferences.

The case retains its predominantly brushed finish and smooth polished bezel, preserving the understated elegance of the collection. The most noticeable changes come in the redesigned lugs, which are now longer and more flowing, replacing the sharper, more angular profile of the previous generation. Citizen has also swapped the former knurled crown for a cleaner smooth crown positioned at 3 o’clock, contributing to the watch’s more streamlined appearance.
Other specifications remain unchanged, including the mineral crystal, solid steel case back, and 50 meters of water resistance.
A Much Cleaner Dial
The biggest transformation can be found on the dial.
Citizen has simplified the display by removing both the day aperture at 12 o’clock and the date window at 6 o’clock, resulting in a clean time-only layout with central hours, minutes, and seconds.

The redesigned dial features a sector-style configuration combined with a subtle crosshair motif that creates the impression of a layered construction. Applied baton indices and Dauphine hands reinforce the dressy character of the watch, while luminous material on both the hands and hour markers ensures visibility in low-light conditions.
A railway-style minute track runs around the outer edge of the dial, adding a touch of vintage charm, while the Citizen logo at 12 o’clock and Eco-Drive inscription at 6 o’clock provide a balanced and symmetrical layout.
Three Distinct Variations
The new Citizen Rolan is launching in three different configurations. The first two models are available immediately in stainless steel, with one version pairing the case with a black sandblasted dial under the reference AW2110-06E, while the second comes with an eye-catching salmon-colored sandblasted dial under the reference AW2110-14Z. Among the two, the salmon dial variant is arguably the most appealing, offering a contemporary yet elegant look that complements the watch’s clean design.

Citizen has also confirmed the arrival of a third variant at a later date. This upcoming model will feature a gold-tone stainless steel case combined with a brown dial and gilt accents, delivering a warmer and more traditional aesthetic.
Powered by Light
Inside the watch beats Citizen’s Eco-Drive J830 movement, a solar-powered calibre capable of drawing energy from both natural and artificial light sources.
The technology eliminates the need for regular battery replacements, making the watch both convenient and environmentally conscious. Eco-Drive has long been one of Citizen’s defining innovations and remains one of the strongest selling points of the new Rolan.
Availability and Price
The Citizen Rolan comes fitted with either a black or brown leather strap, depending on the chosen dial configuration, and is secured by a signed pin buckle.

Combining classic styling, practical functionality, and Citizen’s proven solar technology, the revamped Rolan presents an attractive proposition in the affordable dress-watch segment. The new collection is now available with a retail price of USD 395, offering enthusiasts an elegant everyday watch backed by one of the industry’s most established solar-powered movements.
